Does anyone happen to know where the SS moniker came from?

The SS was placed on a special race car that Zora Arkus-Dontov raced in the late 50s....the Corvette SS.

When asked if the car was a sports car, he replied "no...it's not a sports car, it's a SUPER Sports car."

So......while I don't think you'll ever see the SS on another Corvette, there would be a reason, perhaps, to do so.

So Chevy won't extend the SS moniker on the vette? I know the Corvette enthusiast would go nuts if that happened (I didn't know this history, I'm assuming most of them don't either)

at least the 5th gen has better visibility than the 4th did
