Cobalt SS making a name for itself.
Cobalt SS making a name for itself.
TIME ATTACK November 8th at Buttonwillow
Alot of big tuners showed up and a Cobalt took 1st overall in a field of highly modded Skylines, Evos, STI's, RX-7s, ect.. A full write up is coming up in a future issue of SuperStreet Magazine. This is the same car featured in the Street Tuner Challenge show on Speed TV

The Chevrolet Cobalt SS Supercharged "Time Attack," which was displayed at the SEMA Show, made an impression at Buttonwillow Raceway Park on Nov. 8 to say the least, finishing with the fastest time overall (1:51) and first in the Front Engine Front Drive (FF) Unlimited Class at the Toyo Tires Time Attack presented by Super Street and eurotuner magazines. It is the second-fastest time ever for a Time Attack run at Buttonwillow and eclipses the previous records set for FF Unlimited (1:57) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) Limited (1:54) classes. The Front-Wheel-Drive (FWD) Cobalt SS Supercharged bested more than 50 competitors driving such established AWD racecars as the Nissan Skyline and Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution among others, and was one of only three domestic entries along with the Ford Mustang and Dodge Neon.

I can't believe how much effort GM is putting behind the Cobalt... Well, actually, it does make sense since they are trying hard to tap into the sports compact crowd..
But makes me wonder, if/when we get the next Camaro, will GM put at least this much effort?

Regardless of these things though...It is nice to see them putting some effort into an affordable performance car, (even if it is wrong wheel drive), and kickin' a$$ with it

I am loving this because toooooooo many people wrote off and still write the Cobalt SS as a joke . Sure , its got alot more ground to cover before it gets any respect , but I thinks its doing a pretty good job of that within its first year of production . And looking at the aftermarket shops for this particular car , the aftermarket is gonna explode this year for the ol Cobalt .
