Chrysler to put Viper brand up for sale
Analysts estimate its only worth about $50 million as a hobby for an Indian car manufacturer or for a shiek in Abu Dhabi. Chrysler sold just its 25,000th Viper in March to NASCAR driver Kurt Busch.

I wonder how much time the ZR1 can shave with a 'better' driver. Dodge brought in a pro driver, while GM used an engineer (who happens to be ridiculously good at driving). I imagine they wouldn't find anyone who would 'know' the car better than who they used, but maybe someone who fears/respects it less and would be willing to take more chances?
This is truly a sad day. I was hoping to one day be able to get my hands on one of these slightly used. Now that looks hopeless. I'd prefer a Ford GT, but I'll never be able to afford one, so this was my next best thing. I like Vettes but there's just something to a Viper that makes it so much cooler to me.
I wanna get a '96-'02 GTS coupe someday. It's probably one of those cars that I'll find to be far less interesting once I own it, but there's only one way to find out.
Ah, but if they stop making them or sell them off then the demand for used Vipers is going to go up along with their price tag and finding one will get that much harder. I agree though, 96-02 GTS is where it's at.

I stand corrected. Granted, I was referencing the ACR's times on shorter courses (such at that used by C&D in its recent comparo test), but clearly the ACR is a really damn fast car in the right hands.
