I wouldn't really say it's alike at all. The only reason for the connection is the dip on the bottom of the lamp, which you can say they copied their own car, the Equinox.
Based on the current SS renderings, I still like the G8 more. I am in the market for a 30k-ish vehicle right now, with some room. If the G8 was around and with an updated dash there would be no other choice for me
My significant other likes the Equinox, and so do I(FWD LFX LTZ). But it's in it's 4th model yr now so I'm searching for any kind of Mid-Cycle refresh online so I won't get surprised with a new frt end for MY2014. So, if anyone has heard anything, I'd gladly appreciate it before I pull the $30k trigger.

So far I have it narrowed down to:
Dodge Charger R/T (wish it had manual)
Cadillac ATS 2.0T(just a wee bit out of the price I'd ideally like to pay)
... but ideally the car I want is Pontiac G8 GXP with better fuel economy... I hope this new "SS" fits the bill.
