I actually like the styling. I'm currently trying to figure our how I can afford both a 2013 Camaro 1SS/1LE and a 2014 Impala LS. However, if pricing for the Chevy SS comes close to what I'd expect to pay for the Camaro as I'd want it optioned (~$39k), then I might settle for one new car and not two.
There will probably be two different tail light designs for here and for Australia/Middle East.

This would be ours:

Hey I didn't say it was an early rendering.... just a rendering:-) and that there may be some variation in the final production version - taillights for one, since I do like the ones on the red car, more so than the ones that look more like Malibu's Camaro-esque lights, but whatever... taillights wouldn't be a deal breaker. I like the SS, maybe not the name per se, but I like the car.

Re: Chris...you're good.

The red rendering looks a little flat, which makes the car look a little too plain. This blue rendering of the Holden shows the bulges and lines in the hood which are missing from the red rendering and really adds to the muscular looks of the blue car.

I am hoping the SS closer to this blue rendering.

It will probably have more character like that rendering. The headlights and side profile just needs to be added.

Re: Chris...you're good.

I like it in the same way I like the G8. Its my understanding though that GM is going to market the SS as a premium vehicle - I've heard GM refer to it as a 4dr Corvette.

Which I can completely understand as the RWD V8 sedan market in the US by appearence tends to be a small one.

Correct.

I posted 2 versions of the rear.

The Malibu-like rear end IS the Chevrolet SS. The other one apparently is the Commodore and Middle East Chevrolet.

Calling it a 4 door Corvette is likely to get oneself involuntarily escorted to the county hospital.

Calling it a GTO sedan or even a 4 door Camaro SS is far more accurate.

Refresh my memory Guy, didn't GM refer to the original SS concept car as a 4 door Corvette?

Re: Chris...you're good.

Mark Reuss actually:
Reuss used the words “a four-door Corvette” when describing what the small-block V8 power package the SS will bring to Chevy's lineup.

Re: Chris...you're good.

I was referring to the 2003 Chevrolet SS concept car. Not the pre-production 2014 Chevrolet SS.

Re: Chris...you're good.

Everytime someone at GM says this new Chevy "XYX" is a 4 door Corvette it's just meant to get some extra free press on hype from the American icon.

Re: Chris...you're good.

I don't know if it was ever "officially" called that, but the 94 Impala SS was also known as a 4 door Corvette.

Re: Chris...you're good.

You should have seen the people on another forum going crazy that this "4-door Corvette" thing meant this car was aiming for, and would be priced near CTS-V.

Re: Chris...you're good.

Hopefully it is closer to the blue rendering. The red one to me is just vanilla city. Hopefully the big wide Holden fender flares on present and accounted for, it made the front of the last G8 and Commodore looks so badass.

I'm in China for work and saw the headlights on this car. Someone else actually copying China? lol

I wouldn't really say it's alike at all. The only reason for the connection is the dip on the bottom of the lamp, which you can say they copied their own car, the Equinox.

Based on the current SS renderings, I still like the G8 more. I am in the market for a 30k-ish vehicle right now, with some room. If the G8 was around and with an updated dash there would be no other choice for me

My significant other likes the Equinox, and so do I(FWD LFX LTZ). But it's in it's 4th model yr now so I'm searching for any kind of Mid-Cycle refresh online so I won't get surprised with a new frt end for MY2014. So, if anyone has heard anything, I'd gladly appreciate it before I pull the $30k trigger.
