I realize that, and I do appreciate the loyalty. I truly do.

Chevrolet covers a lot of vehicle types. Depending on ones time of life, or circumstance, folks will focus on different vehicle types.

Here's the point I'm trying to put forth: Whatever something is named has little to do with whether or not it's a vehicle that will meet someone's needs.

It's the vehicle itself which matters and not the name. I suppose I know a bit about brand equity naming importance.

As for Aveo? It isn't a vehicle type I have PERSONAL interest in buying. Not that the segment which it fits in isn't an important one, because it is.

I had the occasion to hammer an Aveo around the Waterford race course. It's not a bad piece in it's class. It's not fast enough for me...but it does have respectable handling dynamics for what it is.

Nonetheless, the idea is to up the game a bit. Building it here is a very good thing. What better opportunity than to give people a reason to take a closer look by setting forth that there's somethin new and different to check out?

Keeping or changing the name of Aveo being of any real concern by members of this forum actually surprises me. I didn't realize the previously Daewoo built sub compact had such a vehement follwoing here...

Maybe a "Don't rename the Aveo!" letter writing campaign could avoid the crushing disappointment that could lurk just around the corner.

In America this may be true, but the Fiesta is a household name elsewhere.

 

It depends on how Chevy will market it as well. Ford did a great job with the Fiesta imo.
