If its going to be a low volume, high content model, which 9000 units suggests, then I doubt there will be many engine options.

I agree, an LSA sounds a bit far fetched. GM already has a CTS-V. I suspect it will be the 6.0L more commonly found in the Holdens, or if they go with a newer engine, the 6.2L NA.

 

GTO style I guess?

 

GTO style in a G8 wrapper for the most part.

But that's just guess on my part based upon rumors crawling around the internet. But then heck, I didn't think GM was stupid enough to call it Chevrolet SS. Boy was I mistaken.

 

Why do cool cars, G8 & SS get odd alpha numeric names, when volume appliances get heritage vehicle names?

 

It's interesting isn't it? I'm calling it the GTO Effect.

It's obvious to me that GM is like a deer in headlights when it comes to bestowing heritage names on performance vehicles after that whole thing. I could sort of understand where the critics of the styling of the Monaro-turned-GTO were coming from, but this car is different.
