Hell, there were a blue and a yellow Evo parked next to each other at Burger King earlier this week. I had two friends in school who each had an Evo each, a red one and a silver one. There is on at a dealership near me that is gunmetal.

As for pricing... I've seen over and over, real-world confirmation that the street prices from edmunds.com are quite accurate. So sorry to break the news... these econobox switchblades aren't all that affordable.
Think what you want, you obviously want to hate the car. I could head over to Diambrosio Dodge in my area pick up an Evo RS there for the same price I quoted you though (it is a joint Dodge/Mitsubishi dealership.) Sorry, sometimes internet sources are incorrect, hence why i gave you more than one link. When the GTOs came out, many of them were overpriced. Doesn't mean I couldn't find one for MSRP though, if I was willing to really look for one.

...Just goes to show how ignorant the auto press really is - - they truly have no clue as to what constitutes a true muscle car. Major-league power and Torque on demand (that is, without revving your car first like Vin Diesel), V8 sound, heft and graceful styling... you know, that kind of stuff.
Does the original muscle car formula go something like sticking a hi performance engine in an ordinary car, and supplementing it with performance goodies. That sounds like a muscle car to me. You may have a different interpretation of it, but the STI/Evo meet the most basic of muscle car requirements.

Mitsubishi's own website. Only the RS has two color options. A regular Evo IX, which prices pretty close to GTO (actually cheaper), has 5 color options for 2006 ( I don't know what they did with yellow???).

I'm not disputing the totality of colors on cars out there (possibly some you've seen are 05's?). I saw a yellow EVO at WalMart the other day (how appropriate!). But if you look at my post - I was referring to the EVO RS only - and it is indeed true, according to three web sites (including the one you just now tossed in, Michibuchi's very own) - the RS is only available in red and white. If you want something other than that, you must step up with your checkbook in hand and cough up more $$. I priced an EVO IX on the Mitsu site, and to *try* and get it up to the feature set on a GTO, it still comes out at a higher sticker price than the Goat, something like $34,700 (I took off about $1000 to get to that number, since it would include a sunroof, and it costs about $1k to get a Webasto sunroof put on a GTO). So it goes back to my earlier point... these econoboxes are anything BUT econo.

Maybe someday, the EVO will earn the right to be listed with the other hallowed entries in the above list. (Maybe they'll make a new category - "tinny boxy weedwhacker exhaust muscle cars" ). For now, the list stops with the GTO which they remark to be "the first true muscle car"

I just want to see more performance options. I don't care import or domestic. Let the enthusiast community be happy! I lean to the import/turbo/AWD/sedan or wagon scene because it fits my needs (at least for my daily driver). Others want RWD/V8/coupe/domestic. Fine! Bring on the choices!

God I can't not WAIT for the Challenger to come out. My dad will most likely buy one.
