CEO Says Delphi Will Be Able to Avoid a Strike
April 3, 2006, 03:11 PM EDT

Delphi CEO Steve Miller says the troubled auto parts supplier will be able to avoid a strike.

Miller told a reporter after addressing the Detroit Economic Club that the company is "determined to work this out." Miller said during his speech that emerging from bankruptcy protection in the first half of 2007 was a realistic target.

The only way he will be able to avoid a strike is if General Motors agrees to burn through the 10 Billion they just made off of the sale of GMAC to pay the Union off.

From where I (and many others sit) there's no way. The parties involved are not talking right now and the Union is as far away from the table as the hot chick at the end of the bar is from me.

Im sure the buyout money is coming from funds that are set aside for different purposes. They wouldnt take it out of their profit money.

Steve Miller says Delphi can avoid a strike?

He better send a "Thank You" note and a bundle of flowers to Rick Wagoner and the people at GM who are making this possible.

Steve Miller certainly isn't doing squat to help.
