I agree that the Malibu making the list is the biggest accomplishment. Especially since the way the list works is once you are on it you stay unless a significantly revised or new model can knock you off.

I don't know about this new GTI, but the Mazda 3 is probably the best all around car in its segment.

The GTI is worthy in a different way the the 3 is . Yes its slower , but as package its a pretty sweet car .

This article came out in the January 2008 issue, which was actually available at the end of November 2007, went to the printers in early November, and would have been researched and written in October 2007. That was all well before the first G8s were available for test drives.

The G8 will be eligible for the 2009 MT Car of the Year.

The Fit is a pretty neat car. I actually looked at/drove a couple before I decided I didnt want payments. The Mazda3 performs better, and I like the hatch, but I'm kinda wary about Mazdas...
