Camaro wave?
Re: Camaro wave?
Waving is utterly, and completely queer.....period. "Ooooh look! Another Camaro! Hi! Hi! OOh! Look! They waved back! I feel a certain bond with them now! We're part of our own gay little brotherhood!"

Ok....you've got a point there. But a manly thumbs up...now and then...wouldn't hurt.

LOL mz.
Some 4th Gen guys do it to me! I stop and talk to them sometimes. Imagine that, IZ28 talking to 4th Gen guys.......
Usually a 3rd Gen guy will follow and pull alongside but I get a

I haven't done such waves myself, only talked here and there, but I always thought these things were neat. Of course, they are neat if confined to a small select group, such as Vipers, Corvettes, Ferraris, even GLHS (exclusivity), but doing something with Camaros is (almost) like Civic owners waving each other because.. actualy I don't know why they do it. You can wave it to a modded fbody, sure, but to every Camaro?
Re: Camaro wave?
i gave a wave to a black ws6 in town once, some old fat ugly lady was driving it though. she gave me a cold heartless stare.
although another time i saw a white LT1 TA and i pulled up along side him, i waved, he nodded.

Usually I get revs from fellow F-body drivers or an occasional wave and a thumbs up here and there. Never a finger though. Some people are nice and congradulate you for driving an F-car and some others are just straight up ***-clowns. Vette drivers, many 03 Cobra drivers can be that way in fact and have witnessed it, but most are nice people. You meet who you meet out there in the world today.

Re: Camaro wave?
As mentioned, Corvette is a special kind of car. It's also a relatively low production car. Finally, it's a car people aspire to. The Corvette nod or wave is an acknowledgement that there's another person who worked their way up to the club.
Under those guidelines, lets face it. Camaro simply isn't that special. It typically sold nearly 100,000 cars per year, and up to nearly 300,000 at one time, compared to the Vettes 20-30K annually. A 15 year old can flip open the Autotrader, and find a Camaro he can afford.
Camaros are daily drivers. For every person who waxes his 2003 SS weekly, there's 50 who drive their '03 V6 to work or the store, and a few thousand who have a Camaro of another year or generation (even Z28s) who bought it because it was cheap and it runs.
Even though there are a few rabid Camaro fans here, most Camaro buyers (me included) came from another car, and will move to another if it's a better car for the money. 99.9% of all Camaro buyers don't post on CamaroZ28.com, and it's probally safe to say 97% of Camaro Z28 owners don't visit Camaro enthuiast websites or have ever been to a Camaro or even Chevy gathering. It's a safe bet that half or more of all Corvette owners have been to some type of gathering.
So doing a Camaro "wave" is pretty useless IMO, beyond the normal acknowledgement between owners of similar cars. Otherwise, you might be accused of making unwanted homosexual advances.

Re: Camaro wave?
Well, I don't own a Camaro/Firebird (though who knows the future) but I know several friends that do or did. In the entire time I've spent riding around in my friend's Camaro, we never once got a wave. My other friend has a 35th Anniversary Firebird and he let me drive it from Houston to Lake Charles on I-10. I received more waves and thumbs up from that one trip than all the other cars I've owned combined, except for my 67 Mustang. Men, women, kids in all makes and models and even bikers were waving at us. It was pretty cool and made me feel good even if it wasn't my car. I must say that the only reason I feel we got more waves was because it was a special edition that was easily recognized, unlike my other friend's Camaro which is pretty common.
Re: Camaro wave?
As a Camaro owner & lover I can see that some of you guys arent like me. Openly friendly to anyone who owns a Camaro (fbody) no matter if they are iron dukes, v6s or a roaring v8 I still wave at them.
Some guys think the vette guys are snobs but by reading this thread I have a fummy feeling that there are some Major snobs in the Camaro community as well more so than in the vette community.

This got me really confused because I though you knew there were no 03' Camaro.
Did you know that in 2002 that there were 17,048 More vettes Made then Camaros?
