Re: Camaro concept at Detriot in 2005?

GM cutting the F-Body was abotu as smart as the B-Body

"Hey there's a huge market that is owned by us and Ford....let's move out of it completely!"

Getting out of the performance coupe market was about as smart as getting out of the cop car market. People like Scott give it a noble try, but it seems like they're riding aboard a ship piloted by idiots. Maybe in a few years GM will give me a reason to stop when I drive by their dealership, but for now I'll just keep on driving. Meanwhile, a lot of people I know are looking really hard at Nissan and Toyota's trucks.

If GM doesn't shape up, where are they going to be in 5 years? Not in a very good place.

Well we knew that we were getting a new C6 since the C5 had been out for quite a few years. It wasn't like the C6 was unexpected.

Yes, GM is dooooomed if they dont come out with a Camaro. All of GM rests on the shoulders of this awesome car.

ERRRRRRR Wrong!
GM, as a whole, could give 5 craps about the Camaro. Im sure that most of GM would be able to get by without a Camaro.
I know a lot of people looking at Nissan and Toyota trucks too...and I also look at sales numbers. The Nissan, which I am told is much superior to teh Chevy truck, still doesnt come near its sale numbers? Odd...
If anyone has to be worried, its Toyota. Most people who buy a truck want either a Ford, Dodge, or GM. They arent as easily swayed to go to an foriegn brand.
You dont have to stop by a GM dealership, and I urge you to keep going.
GM is on its way, with or without a Camaro. I think cars like the Impala, Cobalt, etc... have more bearing on GM's future then a Camaro.

I was just saying that Ford would have been completely focked if they discontinued the Mustang. GM can survive without the Camaro, but it would be nice to sell another 100,000 cars a year, wouldn't it Al?

My point of saying "But a Mustang" is to get all the worthless posts and constant sobbing of some people that is tossed around this board about "I want a Camaro NOW or Im getting a Mustang", or "How come GM doesnt see the popularity of the new Mustang and make a Camaro!"
Yeah...Like GM will just pull one right out of thier a$$.

The starter of this thread is a perfect example of me saying "buy a Mustang".
oooh i got the joke, Al, i got the joke, but you didn't?

Re: Camaro concept at Detriot in 2005?

That it would...but its not life or death, as it could be for a certain company.

Trust me, I wait for the day to drive down to my local Chevy dealer, trade in my Maxx for a candy red, t top, 17 inch chrome rim(BFG KDW's of course), 6spd manumatic, as well as dual exhaust Z28.
Trust me....no one wants it more then me.
But yeah...wihtout the mustang, Ford would be in a world of hurt.

Do the initials "I" and "MC" mean anything?

Well I do hope it looks cool and they sell a lot of them.

Hell, you can buy used highend PT's with under 30k miles for less then 10k and the brand new for 05 base model for 13k! And there is currently a huge glut of used PT's with low milage. I would be suprised if GM's clone was a hit.
Besides the 300 what do you think is Chrysler's best selling car?

It kills me how many of you look at a retro car that's been out for 3 years or more, and say "Retro" cars die out, yet other cars that have been out for a few years, and sales are tapering off is "normal".

Hate to break it to you, but the PT is still selling right where it was initially projected (IT'S 1ST 2 YEARS OF SALES RAND ROUGHLY DOUBLE PROJECTIONS), the Mini is still selling strongly, and the Beatle has been out for nearly 5 d*mn years already! Of course it's sales are going to be much lower. Look at the 4th gen's sales profile over the same period.

You think GM is going to waste valueable resources on a vehicle that has no profit potential? GM studies these things to death. HHR will do well.

You left out the words "redesigned" and "computer re-programing"

except for the corvette Chevy's lineup puts me to sleep. I think Chevy should check their pulse, it's getting weak.

Whats this all about, the Equinox, I mean Vue, I mean Torrana. How does GM think that if they make the same damn car through 3-4 different vendors and think the public will think they are different. I am sick of this nickle dime crap.

I believe the Vue and Equiniox are on a different platform. And the Equinox is a far better car because the interior is a much higher quality and more space efficent. Although the Saturn has the trump card with Honda's V6, where the Eqinox makes do with an old and barely adequate 3.4 V6 borrowed from the minivan line. I think the Vue and Equinox are different enough to not be classisfied as a badge job.

Now the Trailblazer, Envoy, Raineer, Bravada, Izuzu version, and Saab version of the GMT 360 are ALL badge jobs. All they did for these cars was change the interior some, put new noses on the front of the different brands, and put on different badges. Also, everything that Mercury has is a badge job of a Ford.

Would you like GM to use unique chassis for all cars? The Nox and Vue look NOTHING a like! They arent even on the wheel base! Sorry if chassis sharing, something that everyone in the world does, is now a bad thing if GM does it.

Torrana? I think you ment Torrent, and yes the Nox and Torrent are too close. I guess one has tighter suspension? If it worked for Mazda, then I guess it works for Pontiac.
Chevy is the bread and butter car maker. Sorry if it doesnt get your blood boiling. Its the sales leader, not the excitment division. Chevy needs to worry about the 95% of the people who buy cars. The Corvette, as well as a handful of other cars take care of performance aspect.

Yeah, they are all on Theta chassis, but the Nox uses a longer wheel base.

And all but the Saab are sad all around. The 9-7x is actualy the best execution of GMT360 yet.
