Reminds me of that Airplane movie
GM Exec: Shouldn't we put out some sort of concept? Some sort of word that there is hope for our hardcore fans, to keep the buyers salivating?
GM Exec 2: No! That's just what they'd be expecting us to do!

I'd love nothing more than to have a chance to own a brand new Camaro. I hope GM realizes the equity of the name...something tells me they do.
If not, hell, eBay is full of used IROCs that are constantly catching my eye...and they're a sh!tload cheaper than any 5th gen will be

You will not see a concept Camaro at NAIAS this year...nor will you see it in LA.
You WILL see the Z06, the HHR (comes late to NAIAS after LA closes) and a new coupe and sedan. The coupe and sedan are not RWD...but they have something of interest.
Getting back to Camaro, Iwould say "keep the faith".....but I've said it so many times before.....some of you have and do...and others, ....well........
There are REASONS why GM is not talking about the 5th Gen Camaro.
Good Reasons.
You can throw tantrums, throw fits, hold your breath until you turn blue and it isn't going to change anything. (and yes, you can buy a Mustang which some of you will...and it STILL won't change anything....for now.....because there are reasons that in time will be revealed.)
Perhaps that sounds arrogant...it isn't intended to be.....but what some do not grasp is that GM can't talk about it right now. And if you worked for GM and knew all the issues, you would understand.
Now...the good thing, I guess, is that I see passion in many of these posts...and passion is great. Don't lose it!
Sorry for the rant.

Re: Camaro concept at Detriot in 2005?
I have to agree here. It would be VERY stupid of GM not to show a concept this year. The must has just debuted (sp?) and a TON of people love them, thus a lot of what would otherwise be camaro customers are really tempted to buy a mustang. Seriously, Its basic marketing. Unfortunately Im 90% sure GM will disregard such logic.
No offense, but I think this type of thinking is rediculous. Just take dcx's srt lineup for example. I EASILY spent more time at the dodge display than at GM's this past auto show. Dodge had a ton of cool stuff: Srt-10, rumbe bee, srt-4, viper, v10 cuda, etc. Chevy? A Corvette, and a GTO. and no: no one i was with found the cobalt or solstice 'exciting.' You cant really 'steal light' from anything but the company as a whole. And in short, my opinion of DCX as a whole went up a lot because of all the things that they are doing. Dodge doesnt invest all their effort in one or two cars and call it day on the rest. Seriously... who in there right mind would go to a chevy display and check out only a camaro and not the vette. There are not many people that would do that. You check out everything. And it doesnt take a rocket scientist to realize that 8 cool cars is better than 1, even if that 1 has a higher cool factor than each of the other 8.

And I hope that the reasons are very good. But I do hope that by 07 or 08 there is a Camaro ready. I will keep the faith.
Re: Camaro concept at Detriot in 2005?
what's the HHR?
And I am willing to bet that the coupe and sedan will be the next Impala and Monte Carlo(if it doesn't go back to RWD, like some have speculated)
Is there still some sort of UAW issue with the canadian plant over the Camaro name? Is that why everybody is so hushed up? I don't cannot begin to comprehend why GM couldn't let a few hints out about the future Camaro. Without any rumors or hints, we all have to assume the worse, that there will NEVER be another Camaro. Or maybe GM is still debating on making the new Camaro, and hasn't decided to produce it or not. That has to be the only logical conclusion I can draw at this point.
If there was DEFINETLY going to be a new Camaro, I'm sure we'd get some good hints, or solid rumors going on. Or maybe GM would announce it. If there is not going to be a Camaro, I think GM would have told us this too. So I think its still in limbo as to if we are going to get a new one.

Re: Camaro concept at Detriot in 2005?
it's actually better to wait on the concept
think about it...you might convince some people to wait for a camaro with a concept, but then again, you lose that quick "high" that the car has
remember the solstice? we've looked at it so much now that it has lost that freshness that it had at the autoshows
waiting to release a year before it comes out sounds good to me

Re: Camaro concept at Detriot in 2005?
When (if) this Camaro does see the light of day, I want a full report on what these reasons actually are! They better be damn good ones
Till then, I'll mod away on the LT1, and maaaaybe start accumulating a new Camaro fund

I believe that would qualify under "unhealthy obsession."
