I live in Michigan. Basically, you can't throw a rock without hitting a GM dealership.

All of them manage to stay in business, and have done so forever, by selling to GM employees and their families at GMS.

Don't forget when GM lowers stickers for 06, the 5% will drop as well. GM also takes charges out of the 5% for processing. Fixed pricing has no place in a free society and capitalist economy.

It's not like the govt is setting the price... it's the manufacturer. Kind of a big difference there.

ROFLMAO

BM, you're done. A broken record, stuck on the 'weasel car dealers need to be allowed to gouge unsuspecting buyers' track that noone but your dealer cronies cares about.

This post i think should be your last. If you really think a manufacturer lowering MSRP is analogous to price fixing, then you are a moron that shouldn't be listened to for any business advice. If you do know how dumb your post sounds, you should still give up because once you resort to fallacious 'personal' attacks, your whole point has lost credence. In this case, your 'personal' attack is on GM, accusing them of price fixing.

btw, lowering MSRP shouldn't hurt profit at all. After all, these cars are so hot that you can just jack the price up and call it market adjustment, right? It is mSrp right, with the S standing for suggested, not 'sacred'. Then, all your fanboy customers that like haggling can still stop by and get you back to the lowered MSRP. Everyone that appreciates square dealings will go next door and save their afternoon for something better than hanging out in a weasel's den.

Lowering MSRP is not price fixing, it cuts the 5% payment to dealers. I'm not complaining about the price reduction, only stating a fact. The price fixing refers to selling GMS to everyone. I'd reply to your personal attack if I was willing to stoop to your level, which I'm not.

Re: Calling Buickman

Neat way to spin that one. So you didn't just write a 3 sentence paragraph/post that referred to lowering MSRP, 5% givebacks, and fixed prices? I suppose those were just 3 random thoughts you had to get off your chest that weren't meant to be related?

Sorry, but i fail to see how your post was not attempting to equate lowering MSRP with price fixing. Perhaps you need to be more clear. Otherwise, YOU risk losing whatever credibility you still have on this forum. So feel free to not stoop to my level, just check your facts and make sure you're writing what you mean and you won't get called on it.

price fixing is what I would like to see, but many people like to haggle, they want to pay less then MSRP... Price fixing is Saturn... MSRP everyone has MSRP and if the manufactures recomend a faulty price then the product wont sell... so by readjusting the MSRP to the market place GM is trying to make themselves more competative... and well folks when people get competative... profits go out the window and the best product wins, and the maker of the best product profits...

so back to the original subject, is the Employee discount good? for a short term... a better solution should be presented in a few days, because everyone else is following GM's footsteps and being copy cats. And GM needs to reinvent marketing...
