Here we have a 2900 lb 500 hp Z06 that probably, due to the weight to power ratio, is going to be every bit the equal of the GT or at least darned close for 1/2 the price, and then the blue devil, which should by every right be even lighter with even more HP.

What it does do is make absolutely ludicrous any of the "debate" by ford guys as to whether the Blue Devil will be faster than the GT or not.

There never was a debate over whether a ~625hp 3000lb twin turbo vette would faster than the Ford GT. Nobody ever disputed that. The only point was who cares? It's still just a vette. You get a lot more for your money with the GT.
The Cadillac Cien makes a lot more sense than a $45K vette with a $55K drivetrain upgrade.

GT aside...2900lbs, where you pulling that from? Last I hear the Z06 was coming in at over 3000lbs? In fact, closer to 3100lbs.

~3000lbs. = C6 Z06
~2900lbs. = Blue Devil (aluminum frame, CF body)

Ok, but last we heard the C6 Z06 with partial CF panels was still coming in over 3000+ lbs. I recall it also has an aluminum frame. So, how much more weight do you think you can shave off a Blue Devil which will be adding turbos??? Turbos aren't exactly light. All the plumbing that comes with them isn't light either. My opinion is the BD will be close to the weight of the Z06. Probably closer to it then the Z06 is to the regular Vette.

But I agree, I doubt the BD will be noticabley lighter than the Z06.

The Z06 will have some CF and an alum frame.....perhaps the BD won't be any lighter but the C5 Z06 is 3100lbs, the new C6 is 3100 lbs...only stands to reason we will see 3000 or less on the new car.
So lets say 3000lbs instead of 2900. That's still 400lbs less than the GT, and with the old rule of thumb that 100 lbs off the car is the same as adding 10hp or 100lbs off equals .10 off in 1/4 mile ET, then we'll have the same Z06 as if it was 3400 lbs and 540hp...or merely 10hp less than the Ford GT. The Z06 will be nearly a match for the GT, with the BD coming in at 600+ it should more than outperform the GT.
ITs all moot until we see the cars on the road, but if not for speculation we'd never have any posts in this forum!

BTW, the C6 Corvette weighs 3245 lbs according to both Autoweek and Edmunds. I expect the Z06 to be between 100 and 125 lbs lighter around where the current C5 Z06 is (3118 lbs)... If you have different figures, please post where you got them from. The BD *might* be 100 lbs lighter than the C6 Z06, but I have my doubts. 2900 lbs is a pipe dream. I think 3050 lbs +/- a few for the BD sounds about right. Regardless, I never mentioned the GT specs in this thread, nor did I compare it. Again, if the Vette is faster, fine, it doesn't bother me that much. I know which car I'd rather have and why I'd rather have it (and not just because it's got a blue oval on it).
I don't have a problem with speculation, but I think you're numbers on the C6 Vette are off, unless of course there's something I've missed?
