I think the 500 thing was pretty well known? Still no news of 3v heads or VVT technology.

Good news. Good to see that there are parts in GM that are alive with performance.

The new Z06 has to be 500 HP. That is the magic number these days, anything less than that would be seen as a disappointment. What a time we live in.

I want to see what that thing weighs. It looks to be a certainty that it will be under 3000 lbs.................although, I guess that depends on how much beefier the upgraded ZO6 parts are versus the regular C6, such as brake, suspention, engine components, ect. I can't wait to see it.

I project the weight to be 3050+ lbs.

I was wondering if they would make it 500 HP or something like 485. Recall that first editions Z06 boasted 385 HP, only a 35 HP increase over C5. Later it was upgraded to 405.

Looks like C6 Z06 will be one mean machine.

Not with some CF body pannels it wont along with FRC. The present Z06 is some 200lbs lighter then the C5, and the C6 is 3200lbs. Sub 3k wouldnt be all to hard.

The current Z06 is at 3115 and it took a lot of shaving to get it there. The next Z06 will be over 3000 pounds, but probably not by much.

I'm going to have to get one of those. The 427 thing (7.0L) just does it for me.

No, but 575 with all that was "reported" that might be on the next Z06 didnt sound to out of the question. I never said I knew it was gunna be 575.

575+ will most definitely be reserved for the Blue Devil. 500 HP in a car weighing right around 3000 pounds is quite a lot to begin with....turbocharging that 427 would (will?) be insane!

A 15% bump in HP doesn't seem like enough to justify all the hype around the Blue Devil

I was just using his 575 guess as a starting point. The actual number being referenced in regards to the Blue Devil is 625, but on Corvette Forum Rick Stanford (manager of one of the largest Corvette dealers) has stated the Blue Devil will have "in the range of 600 HP".....
