Re: Is the C6 Z06 out yet?
I just went for a ride in one last night, I'm no GM employee so I can talk about it haha. It's F***ing fast, that's for sure! The guy that was driving it gunned it on a straight road, my god you're slammed against the back of the seat. So far, I think he's pulled like 1.4 G's on it, haha. the HUD is absolutely sweet, it takes a little getting used to I would imagine. Haha, ok and for the real funny story:
The driver put it in competitive mode, which he said freed up the suspension a little bit and made it ride a little more sporty. We're on the entrance ramp to a freeway, the ramp is a long straight path and then a slight 30 degree turn towards the end where it merges into traffic on the freeway. He starts it at a stop, 0-60 in no time flat, about 60-65 he shifts it into 2nd, zoomin up to about 80 when he shifts it into 3rd. He's letting up on the clutch and something went wrong, next thing we know it's all locked up. 90 miles an hour, and the rear end is fish tailing going towards the driver's side, then he corrects it and we're headed straight for the ditch on the passenger side, he corrects again and we're about straight, but the rear end swings back driver's side again so again we're facing the ditch, we're about a foot away from the ditch, the weeds are whacking the **** out of the side of the car (I thought by that point that I was DEAD, no joke scariest moment in a car I've ever experienced), he comes back up onto the road, tires spinning against the dirt, hits the gravel, sends us into a 360, we skid 360 degrees across the pavement over the "merge" shoulder, and end up facing the correct way in the right lane of the freeway, engine stalled, tires locked, come to a stop. Dust flying up everywhere, people in the opposite direction cheering for us as they drive by, the guy behind us stopping to ask if we're ok and then shaking his head as he drives off. With a sly smirk the driver says "Well, that was enough fun for this evening, we're putting it back into normal mode and not gunning it like that tonight." The rest of the drive back was uneventful, aside from pulling grass and weeds out from behind the tail lights and molding and stuff

I thought the pre-production units are out there to find the "bugs". If it "all locked up" the guy just found one of those "bugs". He deserves a medal for saving countless consumer lives.
Now they just need to teach him to not do that on public roads.

That was definetly a pretty funny story......
Re: Is the C6 Z06 out yet?
and this, my friends, is why something like this should NOT be attempted on public roads.................
Not sure what the problem is.....driver error or what.....but the results could have been disasterous........
(let me go on the record that the driver was NOT me!!!!!!!!......)

Re: Is the C6 Z06 out yet?
Sounds to me like he grabbed 1st instead of 3rd on the 2-3 shift (missed the gate and threw the lever back into first). That might lock up the rear end like that...
which would have nothing to do with the competition mode by the way.
The competition mode changes the settings on the stability control/traction control. It doesn't change the suspension stiffness or anything like that. So, while the initial "lockup" would have nothing to do with the comp. mode, the subsequent out of control spin would be related (i.e. had the the stability control been left on, the spin probably would not have been as severe, or at all).
