Question is, should I wait for the C7? Aside from a few snippets here and there regarding the smaller powerplant and 7 speed manual thats supposed to be in it, there is very little on the new Vette.

Can anyone provide a nice summary of what the C7 is supposed to bring in 2013? I've seen suprisingly few spy shots........

The next Corvette is coming out pretty soon (2013). You don't really need years of on road testing anymore, and with the next Corvette on much the same chassis as the current one, who's to say there aren't a couple of C7 mules already out there under C6 bodies running around. Plus, Ed Welburn has already indicated the design is done.

The 1st thing I'd ask Silverhawk is why are you buying a Corvette?

If it's for performance and price, then I'd say go for those Grand Sports you mentioned. If they have incentives, then they are great buys. GM has cut Corvette production to a trickle due to poor sales, so don't expect incentives to get much if any better before the C7 comes out.

If you're getting a Corvette to reward yourself or because you always wanted one, I'd wait for the new one. Unless you plan on collecting them and/or are somewhat young, you may as well treat your Corvette purchase as the only one you'll ever make. Therefore, you're going to want the best and newest you can afford. You buy a C6 now, and in 18 months you see the C7, you're going to kick yourself for not waiting. Even if you don't like the new ones, there's still going to be current ones still on lots, so you can't lose.

It is the latter, Guion. I've always wanted one and am finally in a position to get one. You are right, I don't want to kick myself in the *** for being to hasty if the C7 is that much better (and nicer looking) than the C6.

I've always liked the improvements from generation to generation, so I do expect to like the C7 when it comes out. However, I expect that car to be expensive when it comes out. Money does play a part to an extent, especially when dealing with inflated prices here in Canada........

Re: C6 or wait for C7?

I thought I heard (probably on this site... go Cz28.com:-) the C7 was more a less stop-gap, relatively short life facelift, being more of an evolutionary change platform-wise and that the C8 is going to really be the "all-new" Corvette. I don't know if that's a point worth considering or not, I suppose a new Corvette is still a new Corvette whether there are big changes or not.

I have to agree with Guy on the attractive rebates on the Corvette that are currently floating around - the car hasn't been selling quite as well as it was. Rebate-wise we're unlikely to see as generous an offer on the C7 for at least the first little while the car is on the market.
