C6 or wait for C7?
C6 or wait for C7?
I have been itching to buy a new Vette and am drooling over a couple of Grand Sports sitting at my dealer with nice incentives on them right now.
Question is, should I wait for the C7? Aside from a few snippets here and there regarding the smaller powerplant and 7 speed manual thats supposed to be in it, there is very little on the new Vette.
Can anyone provide a nice summary of what the C7 is supposed to bring in 2013? I've seen suprisingly few spy shots........

Re: C6 or wait for C7?
No because there isn't really any public info on it. It is likely to be somewhat smaller and lighter. It will likely have a Gen V small block, of which we don't really know much about now either.
It won't be out for another two years yet, so if you want a Corvette anytime before that you are somewhat limited to the C6.

Re: C6 or wait for C7?
It is unlikely you will get anything close to the deals you can get now on a brand new C6 ona C7 when they come out for YEARS... so if the incentives have nay real factor in it, I'd probably go ahead and grab a C6 that you like... if the incentives arent that much of a factor, then there may be reason to hold off a few years for the C7...
Re: C6 or wait for C7?
Buy one now. No one even knows when the C7 is coming out. If it were anytime soon, we'd have seen pictures and know more about it. When it does come out, you won't be able to get one at a very good deal like you can on the C6 now.
Re: C6 or wait for C7?
Thanks for all the input!!
I can roll out the door in a brand new Grand Sport coupe for around 70K taxes in, which is roughly 20K off the list price. Keep in mind I'm in Canada, so we pay on average about 20 - 25K more for these cars........
I'm definitely leaning toward buying the car.........

Isn't your dollar worth about the same as our dollar?

The grey Grand Sport I'm dealing on has a sticker of 87,900........
A decked out Z06 is just over 100K.
Top line ZR1 is 151K.
Re: C6 or wait for C7?
Come to the U.S and get a Nice Z06 for less than $70k. Somebody in Canada will be willing to service it, it doesn't have to be a Dealer. As a matter of fact I don't let the dealer touch my performance cars.

Yea, I may have to look seriously into bringing something back from the U.S. A 30K difference is simply too much to overlook for the sake of buying locally.....
Re: C6 or wait for C7?
....it makes me sick to my stomach to see what you pay for vehicles in the U.S. compared to what we pay here in Canada......

Me, I'm looking for a used Vette. I'd say over half the used Vettes you see in the Autotrader are imported from the US, which has helped even out the used prices. Easiest way to tell is the speedo numers only go up 200 on US Vettes. 2008 coupes are going for mid $30s in Southern Ontario.
Re: C6 or wait for C7?
Yup, it is. And the fact that we pay more....WAY more for vehicles is simply one of those things that does NOT make sense here in Canada. We do have many people that purchase vehicles in the U.S. and bring them back up here for that very reason. However, the dealers up here are very reluctant to service vehicles that are "imported" from the U.S.

A ZR1 down here is also 150k +. The 40% tax by the island's trash government really kick buyers in the nuts.

or way too much trouble?
