FWIW, my mom is using C4C to replace her 97 Jeep with either a Lexus RX350 or Acura RDX.

I am going to take a guess that she isn't most people.

Anyone noticed that with the exception of the Escape..all the cars people are buying from the big 3 are cars they lose money on? Focus, Cobalt, and Caliber are loss leaders...especially with current rebates.

I for one will miss the mid sized BOF SUV.

Yet that segment is the most popular in America and all the imports make money on them. Hopefully the Cruze turns all that around. Also, are you sure Ford loses money on the Focus? Platform is well paid for and they are selling in huge volumes.

You'd be surprised how many people (at least in the SF Bay Area) are using C4C to buy a Lexus. I've spent the last two weeks all over the area at various dealerships. The majority of customers I saw were using C4C to make a purchase; and I saw more customers at the Lexus dealers than any other manufacturer.

Why would you think that would happen? Malibu is a better car than Camry and Accord, but they far outsell Malibu.

GM makes profit on the Malibu and it is a great car, that is my point.

I just used C4C Wednesday. Traded in my 89 grand marquis that I bought 9 years ago for $2k and got $3,500 to buy this. It's a great car.

My FIL is bringing in his 93 or 94 explorer for a new corolla this week

Edit:

They narrowed it down to a focus or civic and went with the civic. Meh, good for them.
