oh... i was under the impression that all models of trim were availible and at lower prices. so you could get that 250ci for a steal or something like that (wait, who would do that? )...my bad.

 

These cars will have their own VIN...that'll seperate them from the originals.

Strikes me that the market and expectations have moved on.

Having owned a '69 Z/28 in '69... Well... the bar has been raised more than little since then.

The genuine article will always be the genuine article. A copy is a copy, and real is real. JMHO.

 

Real is real...no denying that.

But I have long since given up wanting to buy a 1st gen Z/28. Mainly because, the cost for one, is RI-FREAKIN-DICULOUS. And in the end, you own a car that drives like an old pick-up truck. A fast and cool looking pick-up truck....but a pick-up truck, non-the-less. And if I owned one, I'd have much too much respect for it to rip out it's suspension, drivetrain and interior...in order to update it.

This changes everything.

 

You've never actually driven a 1st gen Z-28 have you? Believe me even with 35+ year old technology, one in restored condition will out-handle many newer cars. Throw in a few minor modifications and .... DAMN! I'll tell you this much, my 67 RS with front power discs out brakes my 95 Z-28 by a long shot!

I drove a '69. I owned a Marina Blue white interiored, factory Cross Rammed, four wheel disc'd, header in the trunk...Z/28. Fabulous car in it's time. Relocated the front spindles and it was even more fun.

GM didn't stop making great ones in the '60's. They haven't stopped making great ones yet.

They have their place in my heart. I firmly believe the best is yet to come from GM.

The spirit of the Z/28 lives on at GM. So does the spirit of performance value.

Well it's still too expensive but I'm all for it. I don't give a rats *** about collector values (don't think they'll be effected too much), I'm all for greater availability of these cars. Just like you can build your own kit Cobra, it seems like a great idea to be able to build your own bigblock kit Camaro SS. Rock on. Now if only I could afford the kit, it's about like trying to buy a nice real one, needs to come down quite a bit...

Neither do I. I think it's great that folks can get what they want.

It is like building or buying a street rod. That part is cool.

It isn't a '69 Camaro. It would be a replica, and that's fine.
