Buick Regal GS exists, though a year late and without AWD...

[QUOTE=maksik7Exactly.. I see this car as a perfect replacement for my GTP[/QUOTE]
There are a LOT of GTP guys that were very excited about this car (and many still are), but until they're on the road, we have no idea how they'll do. And it may tip the scales at nearly (or just about) $40,000, making this in the same ballpark as a G8 GXP.
I'm amazed nobody hit this line yet...
A three-inch-diameter exhaust system provides reduced back pressure, resulting in higher engine power

Oh yeah, FWD=wrong wheel drive.

Okay, here's where I'm at.....
The GS looks cool. It's got the very nice Recaros seen in the concept and a bunch of other bling-bling bits I liked. Cool wheels? Check. Stick? Check. Great handling? Check.
So....
This should be great car.......for $32K. At around $40K, it's full of fail.

With or without AWD, it probably will still be a good car, but good enough to "wow" people? I don't know.
My next questions are with the 2012 Malibu being stable mate to the Regal, will the new Malibu be any nicer than the current one, offer a manual trans in any configuration, and will the Recaro seats and Brembo brakes bolt right up (we know how GM loves part bin sharing, so they might use the same spindles and seat mounting points)?
Re: Buick Regal GS exists, though a year late and without AWD...
I think this is set to be one of the best Buicks in a very long time.
Exactly.. I see this car as a perfect replacement for my GTP. And even though I'm a little disappointed about it being FWD, it still looks like it could be a very fun commuter. All the specs are there to compete with the TL, A4, MKZ - it just comes down to execution at this point. They failed at that pretty miserably with the GTP, I really hope they get it right this time...
Re: Buick Regal GS exists, though a year late and without AWD...
just reading about this the car fall short.
If anything the car needs 300HP and if so AWD. where is that Opel AWD masterpeice that we saw? Why is that not just brought here???
you want people to buy into Buick being a performance lux. brand..its gotta have some power.
Has does this compare to the LS4 Supers?

Car and Driver is reporting that initially, it will be 6 speed manual only. I have to say, I kind of like that.
BTW, they're also saying that those Recaro looking seats are not Recaros on the production GS.
Re: Buick Regal GS exists, though a year late and without AWD...
That is true............... no Recaros.
Blogs all over the web are crucifying the car. When GM talked about it almost a year ago, they hinted that they were working on more horsepower, and that the car would have the XWD. With XWD, you could have pulled in those who don't like FWD.
Instead, you get a small midsize with middle of the line power, FWD, and an expensive window sticker. Yes it looks good, but I don't think that will be enough. You can buy AWD sport midsize V6 cars for alot less than this, and an AWD MKZ for about the same.
BTW, C&D just put the Turbo CXL Regal as 3rd out of 3, in their test. It was the slowest (15.7 in the quarter), the heaviest, and the thirstiest by far. It didn't even handle all that great.
Frankly, I find the car to be a huge disappointment. AWD is the biggie for many, who have now taken it off of their consideration list.

I don't want to make any conclusions about this car before it comes out and the price structure is solid. It seems like it is sort of in a weird place with sort of "in between" performance compared to offerings at Acura, Audi and Lexus...
