Buick may add smaller car
http://www.autoweek.com/cat_content...._code=02242420 Buick got rid of their Skylark a few years ago and I think it should be brought back on that platform. Just my opinion
What the heck is wrong with GM? Wasn't it just a year ago they said they were trying to trim the number of models, not increase them
First the minivan quadruplets, then the endless Trailblazer clones, and now a Buick small car! Also, wasn't Buick supposed to be moving upscale to fill the void left by Caddy? Yeah, more small cars will help

I would bet that what this news amounts to is that Buick wants the Olds Alero. The Alero is Olds' best selling car and one of GM's best sellers. Buick probably wants those sales numbers tallied up under it's name.
And with the Grand Am moving to Epsilon, a twin built on the same platform almost seems inevitable (such is the case now).

I'm glad that Buick might revive the Skylark segment. As it is, the matronly Century stinks as an entry level product, at least for buyers under the age 60. We should remember that the last Skylark failed largely because of hideous styling. If the Grand Am had been restyled as a gargoyle, I doubt that it would have survived either.
Buick should have a full-range product line, because after all, its just a mainstream non-luxury brand. I know that GM is drawn to the idea the Buick could take over Cadillac's traditional role, but the name has never had true luxury cache. Afterall, who buys the current Park Ave Ultra flagship? My guess is that this car appeals to people who don't have enough self-esteem to buy a Cadillac DeVille. Looking at the sales figures, there aren't alot those people around anymore.
