Sure the power is fun, but what do they really do to fuel economy? Perhaps city will be about the same, but going FI on the same displacement isn't going to help your highway at all. If you went with more displacement, you would be running fewer RPM after readjusting the gears and likely getting better fuel economy. When you are put-putting around, you get nearly none of the TE advantages since you aren't in boost, and you have to deal with pinwheels in the intake and exhaust.

Not that I want to bash turbos, I have one myself

Very large. Look at the rear wheel opening on the last picture, about 1:00, the bumper fit is terrible. The car is boring to look at.
