Blue Devil Pics
Seems to me that a company like GM, if they truely wanted to get this thing over there without any photos or extra attention, would have gone about it in a different manner. I'm thinking sending the cars sans engines and shipping them seperately or even through a more "private" shipping company.
Either way, I'm not buying the jail story just yet.

Well GM and other automakers take this stuff very seriously. He might not got to jail but they have to be hard on him to prevent others from doing the same thing. Think of that Vette like a musician thinks of their songs and how they react when people download unauthorized music on the net for free.
Corporate security against the theft of potential designs or pictures is a very punishable offense. That's GM registered property and when trasferred to another location documents are signed to make sure any sensitive material or designs are protected from the media.
That was lesson number one when I worked at GM. My time at a certain secure and secret department in the company saw some people escorted out and maybe fired on the spot for just lifting up the tarp over a covered vehicle or model. They did well to perpetuate those rumors for all of us to hear.
Obey the rules and the job is just like everyone else's but break the rules bad enough and you'd be out within minutes and they would be asking where to mail your stuff.

i cant wait to see the finished product which is rumored to be 3000 lbs. i bet nurburgring times of low low seven minute laps will be appearing anyday now. hope they can keep the price under 100k. i wonder if GM has worked out the problem of getting all that power to the ground effectively, if so immagine what this will run if the Z06 did a 10.85 with DOT slicks and no other mods.
i also think that GM would of had a contract or something with the shipping company and that the guy that took the pics is in for trouble

Just what did he steal? Unless he signed a non-disclosure agreement with his employer, then they could terminate him. However the police are not going to arrest someone for corporate espionage. There is no indication that a crime was committed. Therefore in all likelyhood, GM would need to sue him and his employer, and win in court, before he'd ever see the inside of a jail.
Unless someone can indicate that an actual real crime was committed, I say BS.

So what, they threw a fit when the camaro spy shots got out.
In the end it just created a huge buzz and helped excitement.
Only the internet savvy will see these pics, anyway.
Now you have free internet publicity all over the www.
It's horrible I tell you.
That person probably did more for GM's corvette 'SS' marketing with a few pics then then everyone in GM's real marketing department combined.

Update: This story was on Channel 7 news at 7 PM here in Detroit.
-The 24 year old photo taker cannot be charged with a crime because he did not profit from the pictures (obviously the jail story was not true).
-The shipping company will not say if the employee was terminated.
-Police say he simply took the pictures because it "looked cool and wanted to share it with everyone".
-GM is investigating (though I'm not sure what more they can do.)
