Re: Bel Air, Camaro Concept NAIAS
Hate to burst bubbles, but:
SS concept had nothing to do with Camaro....it was a design study using varioius SS themes over the years. Nothing to do with Camaro. There were four or five proposals.....and one of them had a nose that was strikingly similar to the late 4th gen Camaro.......but that's it.
No Bel Air at NAIAS or New York. Forget Bel Air ......at least for now.
SS concept is still being shown at various auto shows..(next stop is Seattle) ...but I don't think you'll see much of it in anything (meaning new product) in the next couple of years.
If you really look at the SS concept and the Sixteen, they're almost cariactures of automobiles.....they're carried to the extreme. While they're great looking cars, I can already hear Consumers Reports (and some on various 'unnamed' enthusiast sites ) wailing that there's no head room....hard to get in and out of the back seat......too heavy.....too large........yadayadayada.........
Sooooooooo....pay off the bets now, gentlemen.

Re: Bel Air, Camaro Concept NAIAS
So much has changed within GM since that SS concept and those expecting cues off the front clip WILL be dissapointed . It was said to be styling excercise , to one .....get the Buzz out about the SS desigantion and 2 , possible future styling cues . The round taillights for instance ended up on Cobalt coupes , SSR's , HHR's and the vette . When you look at the relector housing and the lens , they are all in the same style . The big fish mouth grill got tamed down from the SS concept and a smaller grill got placed below it , fog lights at the far corners with small grills coming off them and headlight housings with 4 reflectors ( separate high/low ) . 06 Impala , 06 Maibu anyone
However bland those 2 cars , cues from the cartoonish SS are in both of those front ends .

Re: Bel Air, Camaro Concept NAIAS
by the way......a bit of trivia.......
The SS concept started out with a brushed aluminum bar.......
more trivia........around the 20th of December last year, someone was moving it at Design studio...it was on a metal display floor....well.....the revs were up on the car......the driver applied the brakes....the front wheels came to a stop...and the rear wheels propelled it into a wall. (WHOOPS!!) Workers worked around the clock to repair the damage so it could leave for the Los Angeles show before January 1.
Since that time, the front has been modified and it no longer has the brushed aluminum bar.......it's color-keyed........same for the Cheyenne Concept truck......which means "good bye metal bars" on most Chevrolet products.

Ok so no Bel Air at NAIAS or NY so that pretty much rules out the name, but notice he didn't say there would be no RWD sedan for Chevy. Also he did leave open the possibility of the name coming back, but no "
"so I am not sure what to think about that.Notice I still have you quoted in my sig.

But the profile, coupe-like side glass, and the 4 tail light treatment are not what we are talking about, right?

"BelAir" is nothing more than just a possible name making the rounds, another possible name is Impala. The car itself is clipping along, without any new delays.

Best guess? GM's craft center or whoever built the thing is going to procure a CTS or STS chassis & components, then go to work with blowtorches, welding equptment & grinders.
