Finally, someone who gets it (rebuttal of Friedman's NYT article):
http://www.autoextremist.com/page2.shtml#Rant
Also, this beautiful little excerpt from their sidebar column.
"The frantic frenzy surrounding hybrids, fueled by some lesser lights in the media who fanned the flames of hysteria early on, has caused an inordinate amount of attention to be paid to the high points of hybrids (excellent mileage in stop-and-go driving, official Mr. Green Jeans political correctness status), without enough attention being paid to the downside of hybrids (unable to deliver the EPA fuel mileage estimates promised and touted, high initial costs with no chance of recovering those costs over the life of a typical three-year ownership, long-term costs such as battery replacement, the need for aftermarket warranties to protect the used hybrid buyer from the frightfully expensive systems when they need replacing, and finally, the ultimate negative impact to the environment that comes with battery disposal)."

Re: Beautiful article on hybrids at autoextremist.com
Good read. I was thinking he could have gone more against toyota, but that's just because I hate toyota. But I think he did a good job. He lost me for a little bit towards the end, though.
Re: Beautiful article on hybrids at autoextremist.com
Centric, do you have pics of teh 66 Vette Vert?
I need a new back drop for my computer
Anyway, he is preaching to the chior. We read the articles and hear the reports of poor fuel milage, but the buying public already took up the hype, hook line and sinker, if not the whole damn pole.
Its am image thing, the image of saving the world. I mean, who cares if it barley gets better gas milage then an regular compact car, its techy and its from Toyota.

Re: Beautiful article on hybrids at autoextremist.com
What makes me laugh are the people here in Canada who b1tch and moan when gas goes up 10 cents per litre, and yet they don't mind spending $15000 more on a prius than a corolla when they are going to save vitually nothing on fuel costs.
Re: Beautiful article on hybrids at autoextremist.com

Friedman just got bitchslapped, and rightfully so. Thanks, DeLorenzo, for dishing it out.
How nice would it be if the New York Times ("We Used to be a Real Newspaper") would have the ***** to print this rebuttal for their readers to see the truth...
Speaking of "notgonnahappen.com"...
Re: Beautiful article on hybrids at autoextremist.com
ehh ... crappy article got called out by an even crappier article.
should have had more facts about the subject instead of constantly berating the author.

Delorenzo is The Man!

Pretty damn smart Ya think!
Just imagine a Green Hummer!
