AWD MINI Coming?

http://www.leftlanenews.com/2007/02/...-mini-in-2008/

Interesting. Do you all think this would sell well, or will it increase the cars price to a level that the general MINI buyer isn't willing to stomach for a small car? As well, MINI has fed owners Kool Aid for the past 5 years convincing them that MINI has always been a nimble FWD car, and that AWD adds uneccesary complication and weight. I wonder how current MINI owners would view a heavier AWD MINI?

I have seen magazine rumors of the "possibility" of an AWD MINI before, but not rumors of it being farily certain. I guess another flavor of AWD Rally type car is always nice. WRX STI and EVO for extreme performance, R32 and AWD MINI Cooper S for good performance with nicer luxury touches.

Or this could again just be another magazine blowing smoke...

I think the car could really sell well to a performance minded buyer. If they offered it in AWD and gave the motor a nice boost in power, I could see it selling well despite a increase in price.
