Nothing appeals to the tuner crowd till it has a large aftermarket or large factory performance parts catologue.

The one thing that always makes a car popular with male youth (and this goes for every generation) is the ability to personalize it or add your own junk, whether for show or go. Aveo isn't going to appeal to this group any more than the Mini does (most seem to be sold to 40 somethings).

On the other hand, cars like the Neon SRT-4, Ion Redline, and the Colbalt SS which has & will have a substantial aftermarket parts list from the factory is aimed dead center at the "tuner" market.

Just because something is quick & cheap does not mean it will be a hit in the youth market.

More good points, all of which I would agree with.

Can't say that I disagree with what you've said.
True, quick and cheap is no gaurantee....but it sure helps. The aftermarket will be there...I'm sure Chevy is already working that angle. But Chevy needs to take care of one very important thing.....they need to work on making a cool image for it.

-Cheap
-Quick
-Aftermarket
-Cool

That's the formula......you can't lose. I promise.

Don't know. "Cool" is pretty impossible to do on purpose.

Bob Eaton called the PT Cruizer "too cool to classify" when it was introduced. But the bulk of sales went to 30 something and older males, while 20 somethings and younger pretty much stayed away from it. Meanwhile, not one person on the face of the planet would look at a Civic coupe or Lancer sedan, and call it's design cool. Yet, surprise surprise!

Since Chevy's Super Sport Roadster is called the "SSR", do you think the Aveo Super Sport will be called "***"

ITS. AN. AVEO. SS.

HELLO? GM?

If there's anyone in the world my age that buys this car and modifies it will prove that my generation will be the last one to exist on earth.

Once they come out with the AVEO SS, can we do the Z/28 Vs. SS poll again?

I think it will be a tough sell. The $3,000-$5000 "SS Premium" will be pretty hefty markup on a $13,000 car. On the positive side, it may be the only SS with a manual transmission offered.

Aveo/SS??

Looks like an egg on roids.

Cheap is good, but not when it's that cheap. The tuner crowd is all about "image" (hence why most do appearance mods first), and the Aveo is no image booster. Thing is basically an evolved Geo Metro with more standard equipment and a 4 banger in place of the 3.

Most of these guys (tuners) still laugh at the SRT-4 because it's a "Neon", so do you think the Aveo even stands a chance with them? I'd personally laugh at anyone who tries to mod or race one. What a joke.

Performance models are nice, but you've got to draw the line somewhere.

I DON'T THINK SO.

Remember, I lived through the '70s custom van craze.

Yes, when someone buys this and modifies it, nuclear bombs will start going off all over, the sun will suddenly implode, then explode and life as we know it will cease to exist.

Look at the damn car, its the Bic razor of cars!
