Thats not saabs engine or even car really. Hence the nick name sabbaru. Even then, it does not make 100% torque over the whole range. It also exhibits slightly MORE lag then the subaru.

Well, here is the info from Audi site:

Turbocharged DOHC in-line 2.0 litre 4-cylinder with FSIŽ Direct Injection, variable valve timing and intake manifold
Displacement: 1984 cc
Bore: 82.5 mm
Stroke: 92.8 mm
Compression ratio: 10.3:1
Horsepower: 200 hp @ 5,100-6,000 rpm
Torque: 207 lb-ft @ 1800-5000 rpm

Perhaps it produces more torque elsewhere, but I doubt it seeing as every review publishes maximum torque at 207 lb-ft.

Manufacturers can work wonders with small turbos right from the factory. The problem is that the stock turbo is only as good. For any serious increase of power, a turbo swap is a must.

Hmm, just because I am not familiar with it does not mean it does not exist! Like I said, I will look into it. I would love to see a dyno graph. Hey, i can admit when I am wrong.

I wasn't referring to the 9-2X. I was thinking of either the 9-3's Ecotec based engine, or maybe it was the older 9-5 Aero's I4...one of those made almost 100% torque, but I can't remember which one.

I am not sure which engine this is, but by the description I think it's 1.8T found on an Audi A4.

Look at the graphs that are closer to the bottom - they are for a factory car (I think), and the graphs above are for upgraded performance that the shop offers (basically, ignore them for our purposes).

Newer Volvos, I understand, also have similar turbo output (peak TQ from 1900 to 5000+ RPM).

In the old days, however, the torque delivery of a turbo was not as flat, and generally arrived between 2500 - 4000 RPM. And only fairly recently have the manufacturers been able to perfect the technology to the point where a factory turbo exhibits no noticeable lag, giving that instantaneous boost.

A good source of info is a turbocharging book by author Bell (forgot the first name), and i can look up the title of the book once i get home.

Because there was no completely off topic sentence you could pull out, quote, and reply to, completely ignoring the topic at hand that, as usual, you are completely wrong about?
