Check the thread about the Chrysler Firepower.

When I mean larger HEMI, don't think that Chrysler will be outdone by the 7.0 LS7, and I mean V8 engines.

Re: Auto show season

with small block V8's getting bigger, we need a LS series big block. All aluminum, 500+ cu displacement. Definetly should be a larger displacement than the 8.1 V8 truck engine. Just use all that great technology from the LS2, only upsized for the big block. If the Z06 will get a 500hp small block LSx, just imagine how much power you could get from the big block. Maybe put it into the Zeta cars. How about a 600+hp, 4 door Impala SS that could run 11's.

Just remeber the tried and true saying "There is no replacement for displacement"

Futura is a new midsize built on the zephyr platform, along with mercury's milan. Also FWD/AWD i believe. that should be replacement for taurus. 500 is all new large midsize, hehe.

So ford will have Focus, Futura, 500, Taurus, and Crown Vic.

guionM is hinting the right way about Futura in his post. The Futura was shown and press-released a while back, but there will be a name change. About a month ago, Ford lost a court battle with PepBoys over the name Futura - seems it is on their house brand of all-weather tires. Ford didn't keep up maintenance on the Futura name after the Ford Futura was dropped from production in the early 80's and PepBoys spent the money for a new copyright recently.

The new car will be named Fusion according to my last communications, and recently verified in Motor Trend (I think it was last month's copy).

Also, I have heard lots about a Cougar concept this year. Don't know if it's solid yet or not - the lid's on this one REAL tight right now (in ref to a Z-06 situation here). There was a paragraph in this months MM&FF "Inside Detroit" section that affirms there is a Mercury variant of the S197 chassis floating around, but no name or pics yet.

As for the other Mercury units... one might look for another version of the 427 concept car with the corporate grill effect modified for Mercury's vertical bars... if one were looking for something like that, maybe.

Guion what about a certain Australian vehicle (not quite car or truck) that you stated could come over within a year after the US/Aus FTA? Could we see the return of the Elky? It would certainly be at the top of my list of cars to get.

Re: Auto show season

the new SVT mustang is to be powered by a Honda B16b Vtec motor, running 30 pounds of boost and a factory installed 250 shot.
Or maybe a detuned Ford GT motor, who knows.

If not the B16b, a lot of rumors are pointing to a 5.0L DOHC. GT(40) motor is $45K for a create engine, I don't think the stang will be getting that.

Re: Auto show season

Only problem is around here undercover cops have impalas, and I wouldn't want to be chased by one of those beasts

Re: Auto show season

I'd be looking for a new Escalade pretty soon. It needs to come out by 2006, cause these luxury SUVs are a very trendy type of thing, and we can't have 5 or 6 year model cycles on them.
