Auto show season
Auto show season
The new auto show season is almost here. Anybody know what sort of concepts we might expect from any of the auto makers?
From what we've read here, it sounds like we are going to see the new chrysler sport coupe. What else?

Park it next to the soon to be owned Viper. I believe they should be placed about 2-3 cars behind the Z06

What would this be, a 'baby Viper'? I'm assuming this would have a Hemi as opposed to the current V-10? Where'd you hear about this?

With GM switching to the 6.0L LS2 its only a matter of time before Ford and DCX push their V8's bigger.

Chrysler 'Corvette fighter' concept to debut in Detroit
Jeep will show a pickup truck concept
By Mary Connelly
Automotive News / November 16, 2004
Chrysler Firepower
Jeep Gladiator
The Chrysler group will bring two new concept vehicles to the auto show circuit in January, including a Chrysler brand two-seater based on the Dodge Viper.
The concept, currently code-named Firepower, is powered by a 6.1-liter V-8 Hemi. The Viper suspension is softened to create a ride akin to that of an Aston Martin, says Trevor Creed, Chrysler group senior vice president of design.
The Firepower is a "Corvette fighter," Creed says. Estimated top speed is185 mph.
The vehicle will debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
The Firepower name is not legally available and the two-seater will be renamed before the show.
Creed describes the Firepower as "purely a concept vehicle."
"Sometimes the design department has to put things out there they would love to build,'' he adds. "But they don't control the purse-strings."
"It's always my goal to make every concept in some way produce-able. Whether there is a business case for it is up to senior management," he says.
The vehicle was designed to "extend the image of the Chrysler brand," he says. It is not a forerunner of a Viper GTS coupe.
"I am sure there will be a Viper GTS coupe at some point," Creed says. "This is not it. If we did a Viper coupe, we would use Viper language. It would not have the elegance and understated-ness of this."
Jeep will introduce the Gladiator pickup concept at the January show in Detroit.
Based on a unique platform, the mid-sized pickup wears Wrangler styling cues. It sports a canvas top and expandable truck bed. The Gladiator is powered by a 2.8-liter four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine.
