And last night they had a football version as the intro into Sunday Night Football brought to you by Chevrolet.
Mountains out of molehills. BFD.
If someone is upset about this, I'm truly floored. There are more important things to be upset about.

"This ad makes me—and, judging by my e-mail, some of you—very angry. It's not OK to use images of Rosa Parks, MLK, the Vietnam War, the Katrina disaster, and 9/11 to sell pickup trucks. It's wrong. These images demand a little reverence and quiet contemplation. They are not meant to be backed with a crappy music track and then mushed together in a glib swirl of emotion tied to a product launch. Please, Chevy, have a modicum of shame next time."
I guess everyone has their own opinions. Even if they are wrong.

Re: Anyone have any thoughts about this?
It does seem like a rather schlocky, melodramatic, transparent emotional ploy to me too. It's a brand new vehicle: why not stick to trumpeting its real attributes?

Re: Anyone have any thoughts about this?
Yes. Those old ads didn't seek to capitalize on traumatic historical events in order to manipulate emotions. They were generally upbeat, positive, and pretty one-dimensional.
Re: Anyone have any thoughts about this?
Meh. I don't think that commercial will have any effect on Silverado sales figures. People who need a truck are going to buy one. These people will do one of the following:
1. Buy a Tundra or a Titan because "American cars suck"
2. Buy a Silverado/Sierra/Ram/F150 because they are loyal to Chevy/GMC/Dodge/Ford.
3. Test drive each and buy on merit because they are not biased.
Hopefully, the GMT900 Silverado will compare well against the others in the minds of the third group of people, and Silverado sales will do well.
The commercial won't have anything to do with it.

Re: Anyone have any thoughts about this?
I happen to LOVE the ad.
Enough of the flowery, blowing smoke up your @$$ commercials.
Why is it so damned wrong to admit that we aren't perfect, but damnit, it's still OUR country.
I wish the American hating, we're always the bad guy labeling idiots would shut the hell up.
There's nothing that reverent about some of these images, it is OUR past and we should celebrate the good and be damned glad that we are still learning from some of our failures....
A touch of true inspiration I say.........don't like it, here's a quarter go call someone who gives a sh*t.....

Re: Anyone have any thoughts about this?
I'm not exactly offended by it but the marketing does seem very transparently exploitative. We're selling cars here - not our country. GM developed a bad reputation by making bad vehicles for quite some time - so using images of major american events and tragedies is, to me, like saying
"We're not going to tell you to buy our product because of any technical merits... we're not going to tell you we're any better than the last time we pissed you off... but here's some images that will invoke feelings of sadness and a feeling of pride in your country... and we are from your country (well, kinda... mostly... at least still a good bit more than the foreign brands)... and the only way you will keep our country alive is to buy another one of our products - whether or not you feel it's time to give us another chance at earning your business."
Hell, my local jeweler's store might as well run an ad with images of jewish death camps and sad music and then follow it up by happy puppies running through a field to their jewelry store.
That's great, I respect your opinion.
Unfortunately it's too bad you still haven't learned to respect others, yourself.

Re: Anyone have any thoughts about this?
I haven't seen the ad, but this sort of commercialization just cheapens the emotional experience. Kinda like that rock song that you used to like until it got put into a dozen different advertisements.
Re: Anyone have any thoughts about this?
You don't mind that your heartfelt feelings of patriotism are being manipulated to sell you a pickup truck? (Or a hamburger, or a politican, or what have you.)

If someone chooes to use our history to tie themselves to it, in a positive way, I could hardly care less...it's just a commercial for crying out loud.
This isn't sacred ground...hell, I've lived the last 5 decades of it...

...and Threxx, PLEASE put me on your ignore list, I'm truly tired of your stalking of my posts......and here's a quarter for you too....
Re: Anyone have any thoughts about this?
PS - keep that quarter and stick it somewhere special. And while you're at it, stop pretending like the reverse never occurs.
Re: Anyone have any thoughts about this?
Wow!
This is what we are upset over. Not that other countries want to nuke us, starvation, or genocide that continue in the world.
We are emotionally distraught from a commercial.
