Hell, I always thought the LT1's felt faster. A buddy of mine had a 95 LT1 when I bought my 00. I would have never guess the slaughtering that would ensue.

A little more fuel to the fire as to my doubts that it was even close to that MPH:

Beefcake was the first person to put the new SHO into the 12's. Look at his times with his new A6 5.0.

Geez, I can't imagine spending that kind of coin on a new ride and then immediately turning it into a drag racer (and uglifying it in the process). By welding the axle tubes, does he mean he basically made it a fully locked rear end (no longer a differential)? That would be great to drive on the street...

Then again, I'm not a drag racer.

Anyway, I agree that this 115 - 116 mph "stock" auto stuff is just rather far-fetched...

I just want to see ONE stock dyno graph, just ONE, that can justify a 115-116mph trap speed. I haven't see one yet...

He just made the housing stronger where it was pressed together and had spot welds, he didn't weld the axles to the differential to make a spool out of it...

Most of us agree that the MPH is off, even the owner says the track is typically ~2 MPH happy. The ET, however, doesn't seem as far fetched.

FYI.....new best bone stocker.....12.54 @ 112 mph last night down in FL. Jeremy from UPR.

I mainly am not crazy about the wheels, especially the giant rears, though I'm sure those come off for street duty. Perhaps "uglify" was a bit strong. The sleeper front grille look actually isn't bad.[quote]

Ah, hence the word tubes. That makes sense. Thanks!

Yeah, the 116mph BS has got to stop. 412 BHP in a 3500-3600lb car with an auto tranny is not going to get you 116mph traps.

On the bright side, I'll finally be getting my car to the track next week after the front main seal is replaced. So I'll let you know how a lighter car with more horsepower and an auto tranny fairs.

Knew I posted that 12.54 from UPR somewhere....but couldn't remember where. Now that you replied and quoted me, I see that it was here. LOL. Want to set the record straight: UPRs new 2011 did go 12.54, but they had uploaded a custom tune to the computer. These engines have been picking up in excess of 20 RWHP after tuning on a dyno, so that is not an insignificant modification.

Good luck with your car.

So the sad story of my LT1 continues. Looks like the drag strip might not happen this week. Still can't get the overheating and oil leak issues fixed.

Well, I just sold my 99 over the weekend - I just didn't have the motivation to work on it, and decided it was time to move on.

This winter I'll be in the market....it will be a tough choice for me between a 2011 GT, an LS3 Vette (1LT, of course), or a C5 Z06. I wish I could add the 2010/11 SS to that list, but for my personal biases and preferences, sadly, it just doesn't fit.

I don't think you can go wrong either way. The C5 Z06 might be the cheapest of the bunch and the LS6 is a very nice powerplant. Make sure to let us know what you decide.
