A friend of mine just ordered his M6 5.0. He said once it's broken in he'd go with me to the drag strip and let me give it a shot. I'm no pro (see mediocre times in sig), and I don't have any negative DAs to work with, but I'm excited to see what I can manage in one of these things.

Ford is doing the Mustang so right. The new body style has really grown on me. They look sharp.

Yeah, I'm still not a big fan of the styling but they hit the performance aspect out of the park.

That trap speed seems a bit high to me. There was some discussion in that thread that the track in question is rumored to have faulty equipment. I think the previous high we have seen was 115mph, and even that had most people questioning it. Per the forums, they seem to be trapping around 112-113mph.

The car in the original post is the same one that went 12.73 @ 115 mph a few weeks ago. The owner seems like a standup guy. However, I am having some trouble with the mph, simply because there has been no other cars run near it - at least not yet.

It's either the track (equipment, conditions, tailwind) or the car is a factory freak. Would be nice to see it race at another track to compare.

However the numbers do seem to add up. His 60ft is very good on street tires 1.94 but not drag racing amazing and 12.57 @ 115.7 does seem plausable.

I have a hard time believing the MPH as well. My guess is that on a different track it would not hold up.

It definitely sounds like it. I need to test drive one and see how it feels ... I may have to rethink my 'pushrods are good enough for a V8 stance'.

Curiously enough, there are 05-10 Mustang owners that drive the 11 and say that it doesn't "feel" much if any faster than the 4.6 3V. It's all perception of course, because it is WAY more powerful.

More evidence that the seat of the pants is indeed the world's biggest liar....

Has any one done a torque converter swap and see how much these things pick up?

Yea I had the same perception when playing with a friend new '98 Z28. My '97 LT1 felt just as quick. Ah no.... He showed me over and over that night that this weak sounding alloy V8 was far more powerful than even the advertised 20hp difference.

personally i think its a bit far fetched as he didnt have a time slip posted, 115 mph is pretty high mph for a bone stock car on street tires, and a automatic transmission to match
