Amazing...More totally stock LS3 numbers...
In the thread, they say that the car had 6 miles on it! And that their first LS2 'Vette made 345. So this is looking like a 50hp gain from LS2 to LS3. 436 healty SAE crankshaft horsepower. I wonder what the LS2 'Vette would have been with the new SAE test? Someone on the thread suggested 395.

It's only about 15 horsepower more than the LS2.
The LS2 had a bigger jump (about 50 horses) over the LS1.
Any horsepower gain is nice and always welcome, but 15 extra horsepower when we're already talking about 405 horsepower isn't exactly worth stopping the presses over.
Wake me when we start talking about 50 horsepower gains at the 400 horse level.

Makes me cry to think of what I have to do to my poor 'ol LT1 to get it anywhere near those numbers. Even if I did get it there, the driveability would be terrible compared to the LS3.
Congrats GM on this new powerhouse.

We just took delivery of our 2008 Z51 C6 Corvette and went from the transporter to the dyno and made some pulls. This car made ~50rwhp more than the last bone stock 2007 that we did. The interior has some noticeably different changes that look awesome.

Mmm
That is what GM marketing would have you believe, especially for the 2007 C6 buyers. But it's not true. The difference in the LS3 from LS2 is like the difference in the LS1 from the LT1. The LS3 is making as much or more power than the LS6. GM Powertrain has really opened this LS variant up! BTW we are talking about 35-40 rwhp gains over the LS2 and that translates into 50hp or more at the 400hp level and yes it's worth stopping the press for...maybe only at GM High Tech Performance as they will be one of the few mags to actually figure this power gain out and exploit it.
