Wow, lux cars drop a lot after 5 years. My guess is because they are over priced to begin with and because they are generally more expensive to fix.

Plus luxury buyers always want the latest and greatest, this probably makes for a lot of used cars at the 3 year and out mark.

It's completely worthless to base "residual values" on MSRP, when the number than matters is the sale price.

That's the true depreciation for the original buyer.

I don't think they sell them to the general public anymore.

Very true. I sold my Colorado after owning it for 2 ¾ years and got back 68% of what I paid for it.

Also MKZ AWD has been out for 1 year, how do they know what the 5 year resale will be

The thread wasn't titled after the title of the article, which is:
"Top 10 Luxury Vehicles With the Lowest Resale Value"

Though WTH is the Expedition doing on a list of luxury vehicles?

Yeah, that's just crazy. I guess I never gave the retail cost of one much thought, but man, um, yeah. No wonder sales are all fleet. And probably heavily discounted from that price.

A Grand Marquis starts at $18k less!
