5th gens in the future vehicle discussion

Suggestion to clean up this section of cz28.com:

I love forums where topics and posts aren't regulated really bad (like many other forums that exist) but I think this part of cz28.com might need some further regulations, mainly since we have a more mature audience here.
Maybe we can have one sticky thread for:
"I heard..."'s so we can quit clicking on them by accident
"articles/links on/related to the 5th gen" sticky so we can weigh the info as is
"pictures/concepts" sticky
and one last sticky: "READ THIS BEFORE YOU POST ABOUT THE 5TH GEN" and state that crappy b.s. posts that waste cyberspace about he said/she said will either be sent to one of the above sticky threads or sent to the Lounge.

Even though I never really got into this board til this section came out (always liked it though) I think just getting rid of this section might also be an option, or at least rename it to 'other cars/future cars' or something. I think too many people get that 5th beer boners when they see a '5th gen' section.

Just thinking outloud. To be honest, I'm not holding my breath for the 5th gen anymore.

The only problem that I see with this is, who wants to go through 60 zillion posts (Sarcasm) just to find a few tidbits that they don't know about.

I haven't been here long compared to a lot of people...but i utilize this same strategy. Any threads related to the 5th gen that are started by names i don't recognize i generally ignore. If i'm not sure i go in the thread and see if there is a link to an official source and i check the post count of hte post - if it's anywhere from 0-10 i know to ignore it for sure.

The problem with a single sticky is how do we regulat WHAT gets added to it? You know there are going to be hundreds of trolls posting that their dad's friend works at GM and knows the 5th gen is going to come out - and it looks just like that rendering Kris H. did We are going to end up with a single sticky that is 120 pages long (i'm not really being sarcastic...it would get this long in not too great of time i'm sure). As it stands now we have a seperate thread for each bit of information and it's much more managable to sift through 4-5 pages in a post about the Zeta platform than to go through a 120 page sticky looking for the same information. Plus the search function works much better to find several individual threads that are each only a few pages long in comparison to a single 120 page thread that contains everything we know up to this point.

Haven't you heard? As of today, the Camaro's on the Theta platform!

Just wait until tomorrow!

Well who knows what it will be built on if the camaro nameplate gets used at all - I was just using that as an example.

Question. Who died and put you in charge?

Since you yourself admit that you're "not holding your breath" for the 5th gen, one can conclude that you've lost faith and don't care anymore. Some of us haven't lost faith and still do care.

Besides, even BS posts about the next Camaro are positive. By keeping the enthusiasts' desire for a new Camaro in the limelight, how can GM say with a straight face that there is no market for a new Camaro? We've all heard the publisit's mantra: Even bad press is good press. Therefore, even a bad post is a good post, provided it keeps the idea of a 5th gen Camaro alive.

As we move closer to some potential enthusiast imposed deadline of when "we" need to hear something "official" from GM, the number of useless posts is going to multiply. It will get worse when/if more rumors and information leaks out. We should not try to curb this. The more and more this thing grows, the harder it will become for GM to ingore us and our desire for a 5th gen Camaro.

This is a good thing my friends. Embrace it. Encourage it. For every 100 BS posts, perhaps 1 legitimate post might sneak in. Besides, what is concluded as BS today, may just be the real deal six, twelve, eighteen months from now.

If you've lost faith, that's ok. Just leave and come back a year from now when all the Camaro spy pics start cropping up.

I hate to say it, but "Sticky" threads are always a waste of time. You end up with page, after page, after page of three word responses to other three word responses.

Actually, a long while back the site admins did re-name this section to just "Future cars" or something to that effect....basically dropping the "5th Gen" part...we all put up a protest and it was changed back after a couple weeks or so, with very good reason.

Besides the very occasional troll and newbie who thinks he'll stir the pot by posting about his uncle's cousin's sister's former college roommate who now works on the Camaro at GM, this forum is easily the most enjoyable on this site. You wouldn't make us all go to the Lounge would you? Where instead of wading through an occasional pointless post in here we have to dig through the 10,000,000 "So my girlfriend was ^%$# me last night and...." threads just to find something we're interested in?
