Architectural use?

Does that mean just what it sounds like or is that some technical reference to use in a car that I'm not familiar with? I know that all the new Lexus redesigns coming out are using all LED lighting for the interior (map lights, dome lights, radio display and button backlighting, etc. Still no word on headlights, though.

We've been using LED lighting for our hiking trips for ~4 years now and would never go back. Granted my headlamp does have both LEDs and a standard Xenon lamp for long distance lighting, but I still use the LEDs 98% of the time, especially if I don't wanna kill my batteries in a single week.

It looks to be the same as a glass panel in modern aircraft. Really nothing more than a computer screen, the computer can display whatever information you want, can switch from nav to gauges to whatever. I don't see why it couldn't display some primary information like speed while in nav mode though. Or even better, a video image of whats going on in front of you as you're looking down at your nav screen .

It's exactly what it sounds like. You'll see a lot more LEDs in buildings in the near future. Think of the space and energy savings.

We've been using LED lighting for our hiking trips for ~4 years now and would never go back. Granted my headlamp does have both LEDs and a standard Xenon lamp for long distance lighting, but I still use the LEDs 98% of the time, especially if I don't wanna kill my batteries in a single week.
I'm sure you've noticed the difference in color rendering. Yea, incadescent bulbs have that yellowish look, but there's huge "holes" in the spectral content of white LEDs, due to the way they're constructed. They emit lots of yellow and blue, but very little red. That could be a problem for driving. I'm sure it's a surmountable problem, either with adding additional phosphors, or going to a multi-color arrangment.

I still use a xenon bulb for mountain biking - it's tough to beat a properly-focused 55W lamp, even if the battery only lasts for an hour. The 3W LED flashlight that I've got is damn impressive, however, and hopefully ten years from now, incadescent bulbs will be just a memory.

Wow... it only lasts 1 hour? If I have the Xenon lamp on I get about 10 hours out of 4 AA Energizer E2 Lithium batteries (gotta stick with lithium since most of our trips get below freezing and many get below zero). With the LEDs on it lasts 80-140 hours depending on which intensity it's set on.
