I would hope there would be a proper Impala SS on a RWD platform with a DI V8 and optional AWD.

I don't think we will see a sub 400HP 6.2L. We could see..

400HP-425HP DI 5.3L/5.5L
400HP Turbo DI 3.6L
330-350HP 3.6L-4.0L DI V6

Automatics will also be 8 speeds.

I like that lineup. A lot. Will we see the 6th Gen Camaro as early as 2015?

.

We'll see. One thing with all the new tech the Gen V's will have, don't expect a whole bunch of power increases over the Gen IV. It'll mostly be soaked up by emissions. So a 425 horse 5.3 is probably not happening.

Also, that 5.5L displacement which the GT2 C6.R gets...

I was kind of fascinated with that, so I did some checking. Don't expect that displacement on production cars.

Unknown. The sooner Caddy gets it's ATS coupe---> sedan--->convertible, the sooner work commences on Camaro.

Indeed. Heck, just give it Charlie's base Corvette motor in SS trim.

Was that DOHC Z06 comment purely for fun?

I would so dearly love to see a Vette ring in at 2900 lbs. The current Z06 is ferocious with 505 hp and 3130 lbs.

525 hp and 2900 lbs would be magical. Near ZR1-level, actually. 550 hp would give it the same weight/power ratio as the ZR1.

I wouldn't mind seeing the redline climb to 7500 rpm either.

I cant wait to see the genV small blocks with VVT, direct injection, cyl deactivation, plus all the other cool stuff I cant think of that GM engineers are probably working on.

there are big gains to be found in VVT. check this out:

http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/dynamo...omparison.html

advance the cam for low end and mid range grunt. retard the cam for top end power. now we need the viper's cam inside a cam so we can have fun with the lobe separation angle.

Wouldn't it be more appropriate to save the DOHC V8 for the ZR1? You know, that whole LT5 connection?

Is GM really developing a whole different SBC engine architecture for one Corvette model?

Am I weird for hoping that they stick to OHV V8s?

I think RS will remain a package to be applied to base V8 Camaros, not a seperate model.
