Here's some fun stuff from an artist called, G. Loizou.

Let's call this Aveo SS:

Let's call this a cooler looking Cruze SS:

And this would sure be a badass Malibu SS:

Some of those designs look quite attractive, especially the muscular looking Malibu (or is it Impala?).

That looks pretty good. Pricing is pretty critical for a product like that. I don't think anyone would pay over $17,000 for any Aveo. Fortunately adding the turbo 1.6L and 17" wheels shouldn't cost too much. I'm not sure if "SS" is the right name for an Aveo but I think a performance package is a great idea.

I don't think the Aveo should get a full out performance package. I could maybe see a high end interior and equipment package, that really overhauls the interior with something special selling.. (not just chrome accents,a different color fabric, and a different head unit). So no "SS", but may like a nice "LTZ" trim.

In this day and age, I can't see the sub-compact car buyer wanting to trade off mpg for power, but I can imagine they might be tempted to shell out more money for a really nice interior, since they will directly enjoy that while slogging through daily traffic.

Sporty Malibu = Ecoboost Fusion. What Chevy needs is a fullsized Ls-powered zeta sedan (they can call it impala, lumina, or whatever) to go against the SHO.

I think an Aveo SS would have to be renamed to be taken more seriously. When i think "Aveo", i think cheap Korean car. Whereas when i think "Fiesta" i think about the euro-model ford which carries a more positive image and has some performance history with their current and past RS, ST, and rally models.

IIRC Coletti said the SVT Focus was a learning experience, they found that the demographic they were shooting for (the younger crowd) didn't have the cash to spend and just bought used stuff anyway when it came to subcompact perfomrance.

That said;

Alot of people liked the Neon SRT4 and MOPAR really screwed the pouch when they dumped the Neon. There might be something there for the Aveo if they could develop something similar at a competitive price. Especially if they could get Cobalt SS matching or beating performance.

Then again, the subcompact performance scene isn't what it used to be (at least in my area). It appears most of the guys that were into Civics and stuff like that have graduated to EVOs, STIs, S2000s, ect.

I think an Aveo SS would have to be renamed to be successful. When i think "Aveo", i think cheap Korean car. Whereas when i think "Fiesta" i think about the euro-model ford which carries a more positive image and has some performance history with their current and past RS, ST, and rally models.
And I say screw that, if you want to make a name for yourself, you do it just like David did to Goliath, but I agree with you on the full size zeta LS thing (if only because some years down the road I'll be looking for something G8 GT like).

alot more Turbos throughout the line up 4,6 and 8s. I think the V8 displacement will drop from 6.2 to under 5.7

A Turbo 5.5L DI with 500hp?

Like to see that Saab 2.8L Turbo replaced with GMs 3.0 with a Turbo.

Even in pickups--a Turbo 6. Maybe see the HF 3.6 punched out to 4.0

I dont see why the LNF isnt a staple in all GM FWD compact and midsizers?
Ford is talking about direct injection turbocharged engines like they just came up with the idea, when GM and VW have been pumping them out for years now.
Just goes to show you how **** poor GM's marketing is.
260hp in a turbo 4, making more hp then your 3.6 SFI engine, with better economy and tighter packaging...and you let it die?
Stupid GM.

Why do you say that?

The 'Vette is pretty light as it is. Of all the cars in the GM stable, it's got to be the most competitive with regard to weight.
