2014 Chevy Silverado Teaser...

From the GM Media site....

Next Generation Silverado to Debut in December

Chevrolet will take the wraps off the all-new Silverado 1500 full-size pickup on Dec. 13 at a special event in the Detroit area. The bold exterior design of the new Silverado reflects the enhanced capabilities of the truck while features such as jewel-like, projector beam headlamps showcase the careful attention given to every detail.

Not much to go on but that little tease has a hint of F-150 to me.

I wonder if the Silverado will get a new V6? Its going to be hard to beat the new Ram's 25 mpg highway rating with the 3.6 and 8-speed.

Yeah, the Ram looks very good on paper. Even the Hemi 8-speed combo is going to be tough to beat.

People that have been to the Silverado/Sierra previews are reporting that a new 4.3 DI V6 based on the gen 5 is on the way.

GM is starting out with the gen V V8 to go up against Ford's Ecoboost. They are shooting for similar power but I don't think they'll come close to the Ecoboost's 420tq. A twin turbo V6 is in development but no word yet if it will end up in the trucks. The 8 speed auto won't come until the second year.

Re: 2014 Chevy Silverado Teaser...

When I bought my ('09) Sierra it was at the time the best choice since Ford still had the 4.6/5.4 which I thought were a bit dated given the power/fuel economy. Now I feel the same way about the current offerings in the GM variants, if I had to replace my truck today, I am not sure I would buy another. I have heard rumors of a eco boost competitor from both GM and Toyota but what I would really like to see is a 1500 with a diesel again. Looking forward to seeing these new trucks, I plan to try and get 3 years or so more from my current Sierra then replace it with another truck or perhaps a Tahoe.

I bet they will be in the neighborhood if not higher. This preliminary release is already at 450/450, and I am doubting those are final Corvette numbers. Throw a truck oriented intake at it, and it shoul dbe doable.

You guys laugh, but based on the overall shape of the spy photos and this pic this could be the best looking silverado since the 99-02 trucks.

I would love to see them dust off the designs of the 4.5L turbo diesel for the new half tons!

I should have mentioned that I was referring to the 5.3. Truck engines are usually tuned for low end torque so it will probably have high 300s hp and tq. The 6.2 will still also be available but it should also have more focus on torque so power should be lower than the LT1.
