That motor looks very compact for the HP and TQ numbers, considering that it is FI, that is one tight little package.

Ok, I'll ask.....will this thing get hit with the gas-guzzler tax? I only ask because it was damn impressive the LS7 wasn't, and if they can avoid it with this monster it would be even more amazing PR-wise.

I'm guessing that we will have to wait until NAIAS to figure out details like that...but you have an interesting point. If GM can manage to push this beast to 600+ hp and still not incur a gas-tax...I'd be absolutely astounded!

I don't think it will. Factor in weight saving and that it is the Corvette, and it will cost a **** ton of money. I don't see it getting gas guzzler.

The GTO did because it was too heavy. I think GM can massage the Blue Devil, I mean ZR1, I mean SS to not have the extra tax put on it. Hell, lets be honest. So what if it has the tax? People that can afford it won't care either way.

Just sayin'

Good point. When you are talking about a $100,000+ vehicle a couple grand more for a gas guzzler tax is laughable.

However, compared to the LS7, the smaller displacement, potential for AFM, VVT, and boost bypass should allow better fuel economy Since it is a Gen5 SBC what are the chances that direct injection will be included?

And I'm also wondering what the chances are of a FlexFuel version that can take advantage of the benefits of Ethanol

so true! Just like the same 3 Ford GT's out on Woodward... especially the dark navy blue with white stripes that burns his clutch thinking he's doing a burnout.

Does anybody think this motor costs more than an LS7?

Yeah. It has to.
It will be hand built, just like the LS7, and they put more hardware on it (IC S/C). It's got to be close to 20k for this baby if I was to guess.

Pardon my ignorance but I've never seen a supercharger design like this before. Will this make upgrading to a more powerful supercharger a costly or difficult experience for those who aren't happy with the boost levels a smaller pulley could provide?
