The whole concept of separating the HD's from the half-ton trucks visually seems unnecessary to me. GM did it just to fit the taller tranny and engine under the bodywork, but the GMT900 HD's look to be following the Ford model. I like how Dodge does their 2500 and 3500 Rams where you have to look at the number of lugs or the size of the rear axle to tell (apart from the big "2500" on th door).

But if it doesn't look bigger, then no one will know you're that much more manly.

Seriously.

I saw a F-350 chassis cab today. I thought they look pretty good.

I'm sure it'll look somewhat 'normal' with a utility box, flat-bed or dump box on it...which is great...for that.

The old ones were sharp to me, they looked serious...this just looks cartoonishly stupid.

I'm surprised at this whole bigger is much better mentality with Ford and Toyota with fuel prices the way they are....I thought the OEM's stood to learn a lesson recently? Pushing that brick down the highway has to be an enormous task.
Plus those huge side mirrors proabably knock off 4-5 mpg on the highway.

Big trucks look the way they do because of the radiator surface area necessary to dissipate massive amount of heat from 300+ HP diesel engines. That's also why big HD light trucks are going in the same direction.

Sure, there's a macho aspect to the size of these new trucks, but it definitely ain't all for fashion - the laws of physics are a real bitch.
