I bought a '95 Caprice 9C1 last year for $950, and it gets about 22 MPG on the highway. We can run the math on that and show how it makes much more sense than either vehicle in your comparison, but I doubt that we'll see a big run on retired cop cars by prospective Aveo and Prius buyers.

I used the Prius because it is the be all and end all of everything fuel efficient. If GM wanted to make an Aveo as fuel efficient as the Prius, then it would cost the same price as the Prius where as the current Aveo would cost the same price as a Prius after 10 or so years. Thats all I was getting at.

but shouldn't it be as good as or even better than its direct competition in relation to the fuel efficiency? you know, like the fit, yaris, or accent?

The new rating on my LT1 are dead on to what I got with it, on the Blazer older rating is a little closer on the combined.
