An aftermarket exhaust isn't going to have the automatic valves like in the optional one does.

Fricking stupid. It cost the same amount to cut a gear no matter the ratio.

The base convertible now costs exactly half of what I paid for a 3 bedroom full basement house. Whats wrong with that picture.

I think 2.73 is the performance ratio for A6s now. I don't feel like looking it up, but i think the base axle is something crazy steep like 2.41. Recall the A6 has a much deeper first than the outgoing A4. The M6 no doubt still has 3.42s only since a 2.73 option would make even 5th damn near unusable let alone 6th

As to your second point, i'd say what's wrong with the picture is you are comparing real estate prices from 10 years ago, or live in an insanely cheap market. A 3 br single family home in northern VA will run you WAY over half a million dollars.

The new butterfly valve exhaust isn't the same GM "aggressive" exhaust from Corsa that has been a dealer installed option the last couple of years. It's basically a stock exhaust, w/ vaccum actuated bypass valves, similar to what the Z06 has. In essence, $1200 for a vaccum actuated cut-out.

The 2.73's are indeed the performace axle for the A6. I forget who, but someone calulated it to be something equivalent to an A4 w/ 4.10's. It should really rip out of the hole.

I think the 6spd auto has a 4:1 first gear.

I also think it is a little larger in diameter, in between the stock size and the Z06 exhaust.

Yeah, it's like 2 1/2" vs 3" for the Z.

Pretty sure Onstar is standard on everything GM in 08 .

4LT- Price getting your dash and center console wrapped and stitched in real premium leather ( I think its Nuance for the Vette ) thru a credible shop Its not cheap by any means .

As far as the paints go , they could go back to 1 stage metallics for free . Most OEM's charge a premium for 2 and 3 stage tintcoats and tri-coats . I dont understand the Atomic orange though , Sunset Orange was a completely better looking color and just as eye popping and like Darth said , it was free .

The cost of the wheels and exhaust is insane though

Load a 08 up , and its still the best deal on earth

Fancy tech, but bottom line, which setup will make the most power/sound the best?

I realize it's a cool factory option, but is it really $1200-cool? Is there enough value in it at that point? I suppose that's for the individual to decide.

I know the A6 makes the overall gear the same with the 2.41 but the point remains, gears cost the same to cut and install.

It's a pure profit pocket lining and that irks me.

As for as real estate thats the price I paid last June when real estate was at its absolute peak. It probably actually lower today. Thats the great part of living in the midwest.

Car makers don't have varying prices though so we get screwed with east/west coast pricing

Time will tell on that one. I might get it if I were buying a new Vette though. It will certainly be worth more than an aftermarket system when you go to sell the vehicle.

It's called the Corvette Tax . Polished wheels on my Impala were like $400-$500 at the most. On the Vette.....$1300. You gotta pay to play I guess.
