Just my personal opinion....... but I'm not a fan of superchargers and turbochargers on factory Corvettes...... I've always liked the fact that they've been "all motor".

Impressive numbers none-the-less.

I agree with you, all motor is more impressive, but I guess in the end it is whatever it takes. I hope that blown 6.2 finds its way into a certain Cobra fighting 5th gen.

very cool. hopefully the 450HP 6.2L becomes the base Vette and the Camaro can have the LS2 (~425HP) as its top motor.

If the LS2 is phased out, I could see the NA 6.2 as the base Vette motor and also the top Camaro motor. I still have to think the mid-level V8 Camaro will have a smaller, more fuel efficient V8 tuned for regular unleaded (like the LS4).

Do the new 355hp 5.3s in the trucks use regular unleaded? I thought you used premium, and if they do, it is probably a safe bet the Camaro will use it too.

Personally, I couldn't care less how the power is made as long as it is in conjunction with a healthy torque curve.

Something that 6.2L of displacement is going to have plenty of, regardless of induction type.

If the factory wants to add the boost for me, it just saves me a step. I wont even run my lawn mower 'all motor' anymore

The point is more along the lines of "X" hp N/A motor is greater than "X" hp motor with power adders... generally for simplicity and being able to add-on later if you choose to mod.

The aftermarket fan can always add a power adder to the N/A motor and take it even further. If the motor already has it from the factory, that option is gone.

There's also the idea that Corvette has never been about factory power adders.

At least that was what I was trying to get at.

Sure N/A adds bragging rights, but forced induction is so painfully simple to modify. Hell, a pulley swap, intake, and a better exhaust can probably bump that thing at or around 500hp.

I'll bet the farm that a PD SC 6.2 will have a much more flat power curve than the 7L NA motor. There is no replacement for posative displacement blowers! Hell, it even made the 4.6 feel like it had low end grunt.

I prefer GM's traditional methodology of making very respectable unforced numbers. But I also like to take that already impressive number and play with it...
