2007 Saleen/Parnelli Jones Limited Edition Mustang

Saw this on the autoblog.
Not satisfied with Ford’s own "California Special" Mustang? A muscle car brought to you by Hertz not making your blood boil? Then perhaps Steve Saleen can light a fire under your *** with his new Saleen/Parnelli Jones Limited Edition Mustang that not only does a great job harkening back to the past with visuals inspired by Jones’ own Grabber Orange Boss 302 Mustang from the early ‘70s, but also adds to the Mustang’s moxy with a 302 cid V8 that produces 370 SAE hp and 370 ft-lbs. of torque at a low, low, low 4,000 RPM. Further engine upgrades allow Steve’s new Stang to rev higher than most Mustangs ever will.

Other special touches include 302 valve covers, a black striped “shaker” hood, a 1970 replica rear wing and rear window quarter panels. There are even removable and reusable static cling decals included, one of Parnelli’s famous number 15 and the other a blue oval logo.

Suspension and brake upgrades as well as an interior tweak that invites the orange inside round out the 2007 Saleen/Parnelli Jones Limited Edition Mustang. While we don’t know how many units will be produced, we do know they’ll be sold in the mid-to-high $50,000 range.

Pretty nice. I would be forced to remove the louvers though.

The wheels seem out of place on this car. Otherwise, yeah, another special edition Mustang.

That article called a torque peak of 4000 rpm "low, low". Are the misinformed or just drinking the kool-aid or what? I'm not saying it's bad, but it's certainly not anything special. My little 4-cyl turbo makes its peak torque all the way from 1800 to 5600 rpm... I don't see anyone getting too excited about that.

Hmmm...must be another "gimmick".

And it only makes 370 HP? In 2007? Blasphemy! If GM had continued with the Camaro, I know it would have been up to at least 550 HP @ 6.2-ish liters. N/A. Getting 35 mpg. Quite possibly on water.

/sarcasm.

4000 rpm is low for a 4V Modular, but I agree it is nothing to get excited about.

That aside....who cares? I don't race at or below 4000 rpm anyway (surely nowhere near 1800 rpm....unless I'm in a Peterbuilt truck).

Guess I must like gimmicks. Other than the price tag, I like everything about that car (especially since you can take the numbers off)

It makes for good fuel economy to have pulling potential below 4K.

That Mustang is a neat looking version but im already bored of the 20'67 look.

You're on a rampage today, aren't you Bob? I agree with what you are saying for the most part. You have to agree that if there were a 2006 Camaro the Mustang would have more power though. Just look at the 2009 Mustang powertrain (and I know you have an idea).

If you have too many special editions then they aren't so special anymore are they?

I hope when the Camaro comes out that we have 1, 2 tops "Special Edition" Camaros. IMO

LOL. I guess.

I would like to think it would, but honestly, there isn't a lot of mass-produced power potential left in the N/A 4.6, IMHO.

Re: 2007 Saleen/Parnelli Jones Limited Edition Mustang

I already said this over on gminsidenews, but...

Didn't rear window louvers go out of style with the 3rd Gen Camaro and Firebird?

And the spoiler looks like an afterthought. It should at least be body color.

This car is supposed to harken back to PJ's glory years in trans am racing. Hence the wing isn't body color since the originals weren't either, and the car isn't a 20'67 its more of a 2069-70ish
