2007 Chevy Caprice FWD?

Over at GMI there is a extensive thread about Chevy re-introducing the Caprice next year on the G-Body platform with FWD and maybe optional AWD for a large flagship sedan.
This is the first I have heard of any of this, if there is any truth to this, wouldn't we be seeing this car at NAIAS in Jan.?
Maybe the sucess of DCX RWD cars 300/Charger is making GM throw something together just as a stop gag until the delayed RWD programs start full production.

As a former Caprice LT1 owner I have mixed feelings about this......

*Caprice should be on a RWD platform, since Impala is FWD and pretty large by todays standards.
*Caprice should have a standard V8.

GuionM could you chime in on this

i completely agree, ive thought since day one the same should be said for the impala.

a V8 in a big sedan is as american as a cheeseburger, only time will tell.

There are some trolls over on GMI that post outrageous crap. If you haven't heard it here or somewhere else, just ignore it.

Red beat me to it.

G-body isn't going to be around much longer. Lecerne as far as I can tell is the last new car that's going to be based on this chassis. The new Impala is likely the last on the "W".

As for the Caprice name, unless it's on a large RWD vehicle made by GM-Holden or GM-NA, I wouldn't worry much about there being much truth in it.

It's the main reason why I stopped posting over there. Too many trolls who post about 07 caprice and seeing camaro mules everywhere without anything to back their claim. I know Brendan does a great job but I'll trust C&G and this place before GMI

Oh thank you! I was getting sick just thinking about it. Chevy needs a rear drive sedan with a V8, and they need it soon.

Just in a bit of self defense guys..this thread was started 8 months ago by someone quoting a Popular Mechanics article. It was not someone intentionally posting a BS rumor...it was something someone found in a national print mag...one that Jim Dunne even works for (though he has lost his edge). For some reason the thread hasn't died...but PM is oviously wrong.

Just felt I had to point that out before we get flamed anymore.

The biggest problem with GMI is that these threads keep going on and on and on. You need to shut down these old threads after a few weeks, no longer than a month or two. You don't see threads going on indefintely at the other boards.

A lot of times people will do a search on Google and other search engines for something, and will come across it as a topic, such as a Camaro article of years back, or this article. They will read about it, join, and ask "Is this real?" type thing.
