2006 Chevrolet Sportster
2006 Chevrolet Sportster
I was thumbing through the newest issue of Popular Mechanics and landed on the Detroit Spy Report page. There was a report on the'06 Chevrolet Sportster, a Kappa based car, 2 seat roadster just like the Solstice. The Speedster is what they are calling a "mini Corvette" because the styling will be of Corvette influence. The Sportster will be powered by the same drivetrain as the Solstice. The article included a small drawing of the car. The only Solstice stlying on the Sportster was the two humps behind the seats.
Well this is the first I've heard of Chevrolet getting its own Kappa based 2-seat roadster, and I am quite surprized. If this car is a reality they should change the name.

got a link to it or can you scan it?
also, i'm sure they'll change the name
that's about as bad as the camaro almost being called g-mini before camaro was picked
also, sounds nice
i would rather that than the solstice just because i'm a chevy guy and tend to like chevy styling more

they'll probably HAVE to change the name if harley davidson hears about this.wouldn't this take away from the solstice to have 2-3 other versions of it?i know this is common for most auto companies but,c'mon, give us something different, let the solstice shine.i want the nomad!
I really have a problem believing Chevrolet would have 2 two passenger droptop sports cars in their lineup.
I'm not saying BS, but I have a hard time believing it.
FWIW: Camaro's budget (assuming one is in the works
) wouldn't be adversely be affected by this car, since it's a variation of the Kappa.

I wouldn't mind Chevy getting a COUPE version of the Soltice
Then it wouldn't compete so directly for sales with it's pontiac cousin.
I would prefer a coupe version of the Solstice over the 'vert anyway.

I didn't buy the magazine, but it should be on stands everywhere, it has the "weapons of insurrents" on the cover and it has a pic. of some Arabs with RPGs.
I have a problem with Chevy getting a rebodied Solstice. It will kind of dilute the Solstice in the line up. I wouldn't mind Chevy getting a Kappa car if it were unique like a Coupe or something like the Nomad that way the Solstice will still be unique to Pontiac.
Also a different engine pkg. would also seperate the two even more.

I think I'd rather see Chevy get the Nomad than a Solstice clone.

point.
Could this be the GXP version of the Solstice mis-identified as a Chevy version?
